I'm glad you asked
I'll start with the two that I wrote a bit about in the OP

(Original Swedish pressing)
this compilation is by far one of the best sounding albums I've heard in general, there's some amazing classical pieces on it too. Purcell's New Ground, Kabalevsky, Bach, Widor, Shostakovic

(Original German pressing)
breathtaking performances on an amazing pressing, beats out the HDTT, CD and SACDs i've heard of it.

(180g Limited Edition)
With it's cool average dynamic range of 25! the Folia sends you back to the medieval ages but sounds so fresh. It takes breaks to give you SPINE CHILLINGLY clear touches of s*** you wouldn't expect to hear.. (Spoiler!) .....speaking, laughing, a crazy jazzy intro of few seconds, a chain saw, air balloons, a pocket computer game, an intro with saxofon that reminds the āPINK PANTHER-THEMEā, the intro to Rolling Stonesā āPaint It Blackā on the sitar, a VW beetle and other strange thingsā¦

(Dutch 1st Pressing)
The best performance (bar Miles Davis') and also happen to be the best engineered. the Dynamics are so true, the quiet parts are very calm and the loud parts will throw you back. Pepe Romero really hits the nail on the nose with his performance. And take a look at the bottom left of the cover, how often do you see that on classical records! hahaa

(1981 H.S.M. LP)
The 1990 CBS Masterworks CD is also very good. Gershwin's ghost on the keys

(2012 Mercury Living Presence box set)
Yep, real CANNONs! howdy do motherfucker it's Piotr baby

(Argo ZRG654 LP)
This is thee Seasons to have

Gidon Kremer
Ight i'ma stop here, might post more later if anyones interested
Cam I get a title of the first two records? Pictures have been deleted
Never ventured into classical, so excited to dip my toes

I updated the post with working links
btw these are just recommendations for well mastered classical music, If you're just getting into classical this shouldn't matter because a great performance is great no matter if it's hi-fi or not. A lot of my favorite classical music is from old lo-fi mono records or generic CDs
do check out that Firebird first tho
if you can't get the vinyl the telarc CD will do

Oh right, nice. Precciate that
Can you give me 2 more of your fav or albums you have in rotation for classical in general? Good looking out

I play chopin's nocturnes quite a lot, a few of them i'm practising. I love Claudio Arrau's and Daniel Barenboim's playing of the nocturnes as well

I just spent $500 on a pair of earbuds and $500 on a pair of headphones and regret it.
Earbuds: Shure SE535's
Headphones: Sennheiser HD650's
Got the ER4SRs in today, first impressions are that they're underwhelming. Everything in the mix is very clear however there's this narrow sound that I wasn't expecting, I was also expecting deeper bass. The discomfort is noticable, the foam tips are more comfortable though they don't sound as good. I don't think they do custom tip fittings here in Ireland
I'll see how I get use to these but I'll also be looking into chinese gear, I've be recommended the Tin T2 Pros from someone and the BLON BL-03 (+SpinFit CP100-M tips) from someone else, I haven't looked into em yet.
Had these for a few months (XRs), probably the clearest iems Iāve ever heard but I couldnāt get used to the fit sadly.

Why?
Those are both extremely good.

I'd say give it some time and you might come to prefer this new, more accurate sound.
what were you upgrading from?
All budget stuff:
Audio-Technica ATH-M50x
Shure SRH840
Shure SE215
Why?
Those are both extremely good.
They sound great for sure, but not $500 great in my opinion.

You are right, I shouldn't jump to conclusions. I'll just keep listening and keep and open mind now.

Well what source are you using? Dac, amp etc?

I'm using a Steinberg UR22 audio interface (probably not ideal since the impedance is 300 ohms on the Sennheisers.

Ah yeah Iād definitely look into getting a dac or you can buy a dap which usually have onboard dacs, plus they are mobile so you can listen on the go.
Fairly Cheap dac Iād say go for the dragonfly red or you can spend a little more and Iād recommend the chord mojo.
For daps probably astell kern SR25. Sounds great and the battery lasts around 20+ hours. Also features a balanced port which sounds even better.
Also give them some time to burn in
If anyones looking for very accurate speakers at a steal of a price, philharmoic audio is back with an updated Affordable Accuracy Monitor kit, all the hard stuff is already done so you just have to follow steps and have a screwdriver handy.

$350/pair plus shipping which is insane for what you get
83.5 dB sensitiviy so you'd need a sufficent AVR to get a good volume out of it.
here's a review. I havent heard them myself but I'll be getting these for sure

Awesome, thanks for the info! I added all of them to my Amazon wish list so I can research them later. I use the Fiio X1, which is also a budget device ($100) so that's not of much use either.
I feel much better knowing I didn't make a bad decision by spending so much money.

No problem, you made the best choices in their price ranges.

Dont need to spend big, expensive dacs like the chords are snake oil. 100 is enough. If you're disappointed in the headphone upgrade youll definitely regret an expensive dac upgrade
moving into a studio apartment, any speaker recs in the 200-300 range? will also use rarely with a pioneer dj controller to mess around making mixes with

For your Sennheisers you'll want a DAC and amp like the Ifi Zen Can & DAC. It'll give it a little more bottom that they lack. I run my Anandas off that stack and it's smooth as hell.
@Teal_ im seriously considering Audeze LCD-2C
you think I need a new DAC/amp with them or is my Fiio e10k okay? i want portable one, and the stuff/calculator im looking at has me thinking its good enough. saw lots of people saying that super expensive dac/amp is kinda bullshit anyway
