no, we should not be paying teachers based on test scores

Perhaps not on the basis they have to be high in the state/country (since it would be a disadvantage for lower income schools), but they have to have proof on paper their teaching is atleast sufficiently helping the school compared to its previous averages. If all your students are doing absolutely terrible and coming out of the class learning nothing, then to an extent, it shows you did not perform your job effectively.

Read Reign of Error by Diane Ravitch, it addresses merit pay not being a good incentive and that test scores don't identify the best teachers

Uhh, it would REALLY have to depend on what teacher. PE teachers shouldn't be making as much as a Surgeon sorry, lol. Teachers that should get 6 figure pay would be those teaching main subjects & having really great test scores/grades for their classes.

I’m not talking about PE Teachers. Main course curriculum teachers, also, I feel as if teachers should be 40+. This would def cut down the student teacher relations & also give students more piece of mind.

To be fair though, the majority of the population works full-time jobs for decades and never makes anywhere close to 6 figure salaries. It's not specially restricted to teachers. Imo their pay could be better, but they also do have lots of benefits that most jobs don't give. I do think its strange professors get better pay than them though.

They go to school for 6 years to make slightly more than minimum wage doing a job that is vital to the success of a countries future

From experience, I feel like the absolute most underpaid workers are customer service. People who have to go their entire lives making $7-$15 per hour to belittled, do consistent manual work, and have NO benefits.

Hell, this thread made me realize basically anyone who isn't STEM or an executive/management level employee is underpaid. Capitalism ain't s***.
