YMCA, Boys and girls club, music programs, sports, etc. all of this s*** is in abundance for the younger gen if you live in a big city.

Even if malls are getting shut down and aren’t what they used to be, there’s still areas that have essentially taken the place of the malls where the shopping, hanging out, going out to eat, etc take place.

Idk why yall act like this s*** is non existent in 2025. Less young men are going out, not because these 3rd places don’t exist but because of the daily grind and the general social climate. The economy is bad and mental health isn’t addressed enough

I literally live in a big city, music programs are the first to get defunded. There’s been an attack on the arts for decades.

We been losing venues up here since post covid in new york city, bedstuy lost one of its busiest black owned bars a couple months ago. No one is saying third spaces dont exist AT ALL what we are saying it’s that we’re losing them.

It’s not because the places to go out don’t exist.

It’s because they are tired from work, depressed, don’t have the funds, or some combination of the three plus other factors like their friends might be also dealing with the same s***, plus some are a family and don’t have the time.
