I was never in here arguing it was bro. This all started cus we had users in here saying she never made a good album or song in her entire career and that all her success is unbelievable

some semi-definitive thoughts on this album
i feel like for one that the expectations for this album given the marketing and presentation prior to the release is way off to what she actually delivered here and i think it's an honestly pretty jarring thing whether one's reaction to this album is conscious of that or not. whether that be titling your album "the life of a showgirl" given the context of taylor and the prolific past few years she's had or having this be your return to max martin as a producer; the actual album itself doesn't really live up to sort of any of that mythology at all and i feel as if initial reactions are gonna be heavily impacted by that.
as for the actual product itself, i think it's fine and def like her most interesting work for me personally this decade (not a folklore guy lol), but i'm still not really wowed by much of this rather than being kind of entertained at the slight glimpses we get of taylor when she's operating at her best. first few songs are good and then the tracklist becomes inconsistent where songs will have interesting production but taylor will lack and vice versa.
nothing on here is too surprising or jarring from a songwriting standpoint. i think reading the lyrics as they leaked before made it seem that way, but her actual delivery of them kind of tame it down when on record.
overall, i think that this album definitely overpromised on what it would be but i do see an audience for this amongst her core. maybe not like the diehard swifties who became locked in during the folklore/evermore period, but this is absolutely more tolerable than the flaccidity of an album like midnights or as much of a snoozefest lore extravaganza like TTPD
i think A LOT of ppl are being very hyperbolic about this album due to the expectations and the sort of figure taylor has become in the past few years. no this isn't AWFUL but also no this isn't the pure pop comeback that i think a lot of ppl want from her
I never said Taylor has never made a good song
nah you didn't and i'm really not targeting you, but i just think a lot of the reactions for this album across the aisle are just doing too much lol
I like Taylor swift, her last few albums were enjoyable, but this one is just profoundly boring
Honestly wild to see Swifties hate on the album. Never thought the day would come.
lol
lol
god her ass is so phat
lol
where's billie? lol

you liked ttpd?
if so, can you tell me how you found that one not boring but this one is i'm genuinely curious
Come on man you know we aināt say that
Bro I swear thatās what was being said yall were on her ass crazy
I donāt even care if people donāt fw this album or tortured poets cus I donāt even fw those albums like that
But when people start acting like her success wasnāt earned and like she aināt a generational artist I gotta speak up

Brat influence so strong it moistens the biggest artist in the world. No spermicidal lube needed
Taylor stans are loud and delusional like barbz and pretentious like Cole stans
all over the most vanilla music someone could make
About 4 full listens. 2 in the car.
Itās better than TTPD but not as good as midnights to me. And midnights was fairly middle of the pack in her overall discography.
Album starts strong. I think I like Opalite the most. Just a fun song and a good vibe. After that itās just a pretty bland stretch. I like the message behind father figure and actually romantic but couldāve been executed better. Everything else is just okay, not terribly offensive but nothing that will stick.
I think the title track is good as well but canāt make up for the long stretch of forgettable tracks before it.
I wouldnāt mind seeing her work with antonoff again.

Let's see you make Ophelia, mister!

I never said sheās never made a good song.
I said for the level of acclaim that she receives, she doesnāt have the discography to warrant it whatsoever.
Sheās a generational commercial act. I wouldnāt call her a generational talent
