The same people not fw this were just going crazy over Puss in Boots and Avatar bro, this “you hate fun” s*** not gonna work with this movie. There’s literally nothing to it - beyond amazing visuals and video game references - and it’s fine if people don’t like that. How does disliking a movie with no heart or soul make you have a heart of stone

This movie is mostly for kids, Mario/Nintendo fans, and animation fans. If you are none of these, it leaves room for it to not be in good graces with you.

As a Mario fan, 9.5/10
As an animation enjoyer, 11/10

And that's that, It accomplished what it set out to do

mario is basically the mickey/looney tunes of gaming and they just proved you can make him into a successful film and now they got exclusive rights

if this ends up doing more than minions 2 and despicable me 4 it might be curtains for that series

Despicable Me is Illumination's foundation and is still a money maker, it ain't going anywhere

I hope they don't fully adapt them individually like that but meld worlds and create an original story but going to let them cook whatever they cook.

The Mario Kart part of this movie felt rushed and just a sprinkle but maybe they could really pull together a fast and furious knock off
