About to rewatch now. Episode had me so f***ed up that I didn’t even notice the 30 minute one take

They didn’t end up using it intact

Here’s them explaining how it was done though

    vm.tiktok.com/ZMYGJnQdV

Seems like they basically shot 3 different angles of the one take, cutting between them AND splicing in some lines and elements from different takes

So you don’t get the flowy long take birdman style thing, but you do get largely uninterrupted acting performances etc

Seems kinda pointless in all honesty! I guess it works for getting the actual performances to cool places? Like 25 minutes in, one line could be perfect when built up in emotional and tension rather than just starting there

I kinda wanna see what one of those angles looks like tho and see the entire 30 min sequence from one angle. Maybe they’ll drop it as a bonus thing somewhere

Word word. Yeah still incredible filmmaking.

Watching 30 minutes uninterrupted of masterclass acting would be amazing to see. I get it tho, it would be impossible to do with the whole back and forth with Tom unless we only heard Tom’s voice the whole time. But seeing an uncut take of just that raw emotion of hearing that type of news would have been crazy.

I think this episode rivals Sopranos season finale but I might be tripping

you could compare em for sure but it's interesting how they're both shown from two different perspectives. sopranos closes out on tony's paranoid POV where we can feel his impending doom & the walls slowly closing on him (his crew dying/flipping, melfi gone, all the family stuff feeling hollow etc), until the last cut.

this episode opened on logan being his regular evil self, not really getting a look into him besides his speech + family talk last ep. we saw a little when he spoke to his bodyguard in the first episode but not getting any kind of internal dialogue/perspective from him definitely made the blind side hit harder. that second episode is gonna be the image he leaves behind to his company & kids & we'll see how the ripples of it effect everyone.

way too early to be having these conversations

but I’d say it’s more comparable to the episode where Adrianna gets wacked in terms of impact, shock value, characters coping, ext.

What was your reaction when it happened?

It reminded me of when I found out my brother was dead. Just really scarily realistic with how f***ing s***ty a lack of closure feels.
The writers are torturing them with how they constructed this. It’s hell.
    Genius.

i’m with you dude. i lost my father a few years back and the way this whole episode was paced and how everyone interacted and reacted was so visceral and authentic. was like scary accurate if you’ve ever been in that situation.

    Exactly
Just… the humanness trying to process, and accept what’s happened
    And, the awkwardness
The gentle way you speak to your family
    The silence
    Damn

“what we do today will always be what we did the day our father died”

kendal stepped up, roman did too to an extent, but I think Kendall did the most.

Also it’s crazy how Greg was in the same location as the kids but still felt like he wasn’t. By the time Greg got the call about Logan I had forgot he was at the wedding and for a second thought he was somewhere else

Crazy that Nigga diddling minors thank god the show ending this season 😭

  • Apr 11, 2023

what was tom saying to greg about deleting s***?

and is roman a bit f***ed from tryna play both sides?

  • Dam.

Succession proved it’s the best show ever after this episode . We thought last of us was good but sweet baby Ray this episode made me reconsider the medium of tv . They should show this episode on repeat on Best Buy tv displays it’s that good
