It absolutely did. She spent the full season—well, full show—trying to follow the wind, self-sabotaging many times, because she's just a delusional narcissist resentful that nobody wants to give her the CEO position. She couldn't STAND giving it to her brother and can hardly stand letting her husband get it.

i am going to agree with you. ken is a fictional character and lives his life at the whim of the screen writers. when you break down the series from start to end, you cant help but feel ken truly had no control over his life. it was never possible for him to do something other than what the writers intended for him. if they never intended for him to become CEO, then that is how it would be. in that way, he ultimately never had freedom of will.
this show tackled a lot of issues but not enough people are talking about this one. very interesting.

No, Shiv definitely felt some type of way back when Rome and Ken secured the Mattson deal and thought that she was being sidelined. Hers was a case of "if I can't steer the ship, no one will." Also a culmination of things, like the blowout during the Mencken Jimenez election night.
