Jan 17, 2022·5 repliesI always find studies like this to be really funny. They remind me of 2012-15 reddit where you'd constantly see posts like "study finds that PC gamers are better at pleasuring women in the bedroom" reach the front page on r/science or r/news
I'm not gonna call into question their methods but these sorts of studies often times feel like they were done with the sole purpose of going viral so that the scientists could use that virality to secure grants for the research they actually want to do.

Also lumping in politics and philosophy in the beginning as an irrational belief just makes no sense. I can see grouping religion as they’re both faith based concepts but the other two not at all.

spirituality within the west has been commodified, and people are buying into it instead of actually engaging in spiritual practices and broadening their worldview, hell, some of them even fall into spiritual narcissism where they think being spiritual makes them better than the average person

People just lost and want a superficial way to feel a part of something. A lot of people are shallow, and if you get to know these folk, they still be having existential difficulties with their life and s***. They don’t know like we know spirituality isn’t the stuff around you, it’s the shift from within
