  • In my opinion most of these streamers/reactors/influencers use hiphop as a get rich quick scheme, and despite making a lot of hiphop centric content these people aren’t truly a part of the hiphop community and by gaming the algorithms are actively damaging the genre and culture especially since they've positioned themselves as beacons of taste and a authority on what’s hot.

Streaming (twitch, kick etc) could be used as a tool for rap and hiphop but as of right now 2026 they are mechanisms for vultures to hit an easy lick. Not too long ago there was a list (from complex I think) calling a bunch of streamers “hiphop media moguls” if a publication like complex is platforming these and describing them this way then we’re cooked.

Although I think commentators, reactors and even streamers can serve a good purpose within hiphop calling these guys in their current form hiphop media/journalists just dilutes what that really means.

I just care about the genre that is an integral part of my culture being cheapened by people trying to make a quick buck. The condescending act you do on here doesn’t make you look smart you’re just a a******.

it’s 2026, imagine thinking streamers are still irrelevant

this is like saying 2DopeBoyz is too niche to be relevant in 2011

doesn’t matter if you like em or not, that’s the platform young people use, and it’s parasitic asf

depends on the streamer, but my take is that just because they leech off a wide variety of things doesn’t mean they’re not still leeching off all of it

of course, there are exceptions, like Speed actually does s*** on his streams

Rap isn’t as lucrative as it was 10 years ago and streaming is seen as a fresh source of revenue. As much as I agree with you we have to be honest and recognize a lot of of artists are willingly collaborating with them such as with this thread below

whenever i see a rapper go on a stream, i immediately think that the record labels are the ones signing them up to appear on said streams as a promotional tool

Your engagement with streaming culture is completely voluntary. KTT and Twitter are the only reasons I even know their names. And that's almost all I know.

Neon who had rappers like YG and Big Sean on his stream. I genuinely think Neon has more money than them. Which is a scary thought.

Related to influencers and rap centered ig pages more so than streamers but i remember prettifun (look up feel like uzi if you don’t know who he is) talking about how labels and artists will pay these pages to spread dirt and start narratives (both positive and negative) about themselves and competing artists. All this s*** is fake like MTV Cribs

Drake is intimately involved in this discussion, and streamers were a big part of that beef.

When I bother to participate in such a tired topic, I still have more to offer than you do. Dummy

I’m pretty sure it was some SypherPK video that he made about Speed and his background and come up and it honestly had me like a little aged out from all that stuff but always going to root for a good black man making his money
