Everesti feel like the new star wars games do space travel well while it technically/mechanically basically being a loading screen
getting on the ship
picking the planet you wanna go to
the space ship 'going up into space, flying off' while you are still in control (obviously the whole planet isn't being rendered as you take off & fly above it but you see it from the cockpit window and it works)
you have a set amount of time where your ship has to fly itself to the planet (its like 50 seconds in star wars, could be longer in starfield)
you can walk around and do anything on the ship while its 'flying'
you have to actually sit in the commander seat for the cut scene of landing to play / for the planet to begin loading
but then again bethesda can't do stores without loading screens so maybe this would be too technically demanding with how they develop their worlds
Having a few minutes to do all your maintenance s*** while you warp between systems would be immersive af

UIPso funny to me cuz having to fly through the entirety of space every time i need to go to a new planet/solar system would definitely make this game unplayable for me and a lot of other people lol
Slow transportation was the only issue with rdr2, an otherwise perfect game

It works for Star Wars because there was like 6 planets in the last Star Wars game
It would be f***ing annoying in this game where there’s 1000 planets and you’re constantly going back and forth to planets you’ve been to for quests
I’m glad it’s just a 2 second loading screen and you’re instantly across the Galaxy without even getting in your ship
Sep 5, 2023i just dont know why flying close to a planet had to take so long its a video game i dont wanna travel 7 hours to get to the other side of venus shorten the time give the ship satisfying flight feedback so you actually feel like youre moving forward and let people do some sort of masked loading screen landing when youre close enough
give people the option to fast travel if they want

it removes the fun of walking from one place to another and discovering cool s*** that you would get in fallout and elder scrolls and replaces it with nothing
You can still fly to every planet in a galaxy if your want to. It just takes forever without a grav drive. So if you have to use a grav drive to get somewhere fast how is that even different then teleportation?
Exploring is still fine in this. You can literally just go to a random galaxy and a random planet. I spent my entire day yesterday just doing that and had a great time
I think the problem is y’all had this idea of what the game was gonna be in your head and it’s not but instead of actually playing and exploring the game to see how it works y’all are just like “nah it’s not how I imagined it so it sucks”

So what I dont like is say: I randomly drop into a planet on Mars, but I cant walk to Cydonia, I have to use the map to fly there. Lets say I make a marker right next to cydonia, u cant walk there.
Like in skyrim/oblivion/fallout u can just walk out of a city, wish they did the same for this

youll find so many people who had a near perfect experience on pc and ignore the s***ty time people on console and i guess some times on pc had to now say the game was great when it launched when it wasnt

Usually you can't run in any direction for 60 seconds without finding something interesting or walking into the middle of shootout or something but there's nothing going on out here. I'm already seeing the same buildings over and over instead of the usual consistently fresh locations Bethesda has gotten me used to.
im roughly 20 hours in and I always find like minimum 3 points of interest that pull me from my main quest and this is without me actively searching for outside stuff. To that other person's point, we might just be playing different games.
I will say the flow of the game is different from other Bethesda titles for sure but content and systems are the furthest thing from an issue

I played it on pc minivan and my pc blue screened 5 times. Ran like s***. And had way more bugs. And that was on a 2070

yeah there are some elements for sure but on a cold planet if you shot their mask they froze or shooting helmets lead to other effects or suit damage for them at least would all be cool little details for sure
I do like the combat though quite a bit. ship combat after upgrading and putting skill points in is very rewarding

you can usually look at your destination and click the floating quest marker or location marker to fast travel their btw, even in space
unless you’re out of fuel range and have to bunny hop but just get a better spaceship lol

finally starting to get into this but man
they s*** the bed in alot of waysthe decision to force us to fast travel everywhere is mind boggling and totally breaks the immersion. I could switch on the hyperdrive in any direction I wanted in Tie Fighter back in 1992 ffs.
