Seems they bought it for this. Pretty cool feature

Song Credits are just the start. We’ll also be rolling out SongDNA, an interactive view that maps out connections between songs, showing collaborators, samples, and covers all in one place. Spotify Premium listeners will see it in the ‘Now Playing’ view as a new way to explore, dig deeper into how tracks are connected, and trace a song’s creative roots. Samples and covers in SongDNA are powered by WhoSampled, which is now part of Spotify. With WhoSampled’s community-built knowledge, fans can dive into the influences behind the music they love, while giving sampled and covered artists fresh ways to get discovered and celebrated.

Actually is cool
I agree, no record label needs to know which songs i sampled on my tracks and take me to court -_-
They hardly ever take people to court. If they do it's when an artist is attempt to make money off the song that is sampling a record that they own.
Most times when a song that is using a sample but not making money, it'll either just get taken down, or be unable to upload it to a DSP like Spotify, Apple Music, etc. They can still be uploaded to YouTube, but the person just won't make money off of it from ads, views, etc.

Exactly, I dont need that either,
Skreets need my music!
Mind you, one of the people "leading the charge" on the "stop sample snitching" movement is some f***in white guy from Canada who has likened sample snitching to "gentrification"...
The lack of self-awareness is astounding to say the least.
i see their point. especially with artists with high volume output who defintiely dont get their s*** cleared ie knxwledge, MIKE, etc
They should be getting their music sampled. We are not in the 80s and 90s where people from poorer backgrounds could only make music through sampling.
Now its just theft
oh god don’t tell me theyre gonna replace
the youtube links w spotify links now
wow that would be so f***ing ass
cmon you already know they are
Spotify is anti-hiphop
Bunch of euros who don't give 2 f***s about rap or musicians, the main ones pushing slop and algorithms over art, the main ones trying to phase out artists in favor of podcasters and AI
Them sinking their tentacles into one of the gateways of fans who actually like the culture, sampling, is a bad thing lmaooo
Man what are you even talking about

where's the lie
Also the idea of “sample snitching” is the dumbest s*** in the world, grow up
Except it’s not
You’re basically telling all the OG producers to grow up. Imagine telling Premo or Q-Tip to grow up lmao
If a huge major label artist doesn’t clear a sample then yeah that’s on them but snitching on underground artists is lame as hell

can you lick my boots too while you're at it

Man Fruity Loops is here. Premier and Q Tip grew up in a time where it was largely necessary; that time has now passed.
If today the millionaires Q Tip and Premier were stealing samples then thats dumb as hell

Can you really not understand how stupid this sounds?
“Why sample when you got FL studio”
Game's gone
i dunno what this means for the site but hopefully it remains the same
i don’t make beats for a living so idc about sample snitching ngl love using this site to discover samples
I spent hours on this site when i used to search for chops. Was fun to track some of my favorite flips and get inspired to do them differently.

Yeah it’s great for people getting into it, I did the same thing

i mean i guess this is cool, but im AM gang so i'll have to wait until Apple releases 'SongGenetics"
I hate how Spotify has gamified music s***s wack
Why do I need to see who an artist sampled, how much monthly listeners and followers they have, how high they’re ranked amongst other artists, how much streams they get per song, etc.
Way too much transparency imo. Even though it’s the superior product I am an Apple Music loyalist cuz of bs like this
Perfect way to describe it, I dont wanna feel like im playing "RankedMusic" when tryna listen to music
It’s the whitest s*** ever to cry about
lol maybe now, I mean with technology and allat. But i do feel some producers with this gripe. But I guess it was way more of an issue back in the 90s then now
whosampled came out in 2008
Genius came out in 2009
but Genius itself became a known entity to casual listeners and had artists deciphering their lyrics and samples

Genius already have this on their website and mobile app. All they needed was the infrastructure like Spotify to take them to the next level. I hope there's a article or such that comes out who Spotify had negotiations with but I doubt it. Because Genius missed the train
