This isn’t an issue that plagued the film thank god cus black people were obviously in the room for the making of this film but it is a weird trend with Disney unfortunately. Princess and the Frog is prob the most flagrant example
This film in all was a massive step in the right direction tho even in the animation of black people
Didn’t really realize this trend til I was talking with my gf (she hasn’t seen this movie and doesn’t know the synopsis) and she mentioned she hoped they didn’t do this lol.
Twitter always gonna complain tho . It’s not a site that generates positivity and it only really represents a small amount of opinions
To my knowledge the reasoning for the trend is that Disney(and other studios) want to appeal to the markets of other countries. Specifically China, which is their largest market.
Movies with a black cast or a black lead tend to not do very well in China.
Disney wants to say they’re progressive and that they’re including representation in their films. But they don’t want to lose out on Chinese profits. So what they would do is have a a black character get turned into a creature or thing, so they can have their cake and eat it too.
Same for whenever they say “this movie includes a gay character”. In Star Wars the “Gay characters” turned out to be two random woman kissing in the background. That’s something that they could easily digitally edit out in the Chinese and Middle Eastern releases are of the movie.
Im also glad i didnt have to pay any extra on disney+ for this
I would have though. Not $30...possibly $20.

thoughts on wlr (album of the year) ?
i watched this and now i feel like i haven't lived my life so far
Watching someone be so caught up in their perception of self fulfillment that their unable to appreciate their own life will do that to you
Ending f***ed me up. I thought Disney was gonna go all the way sad but then they pulled back lol

Lmao. Tina Fey's character is not a white woman tho. They made that known in the movie when they said that the only reason why 22 chose that voice was to annoy people.
This movie was f***ing amazing. Related to it a lot and this is prob a top 5 Pixar movie for me now. Cried in a few scenes too tbh and that ending was beautiful.

Disney will never go as hard as the mid ‘90s again

Onward might be top 1 Pixar I cried from the first minute to the walk out to the car

Amazing movie. Very mature too, this isnt for the kids honestly.
Man I thought they’d show him getting old and still teaching + performing and one day 22 would pop up in his class as a student
they show all that after the credit ends
a white woman voicing a black man for most of the movie. 2020 in a nutshell. most racist movie ive seen in a min. if you watch this and like it. you know what you are
Onward might be top 1 Pixar I cried from the first minute to the walk out to the car
For real Onward was a much better movie. That ending had me in shambles.
They missed with not having his dad soul say something to him. Something.
This ain’t the lion king bruh
another movie that has a similar theme to this movie (but not as good or well done) is About Time
idk if you've guys seen it but if you enjoyed this message, I remember that movie having a similar effect on me years ago
yoo I had the same thought. About Time is also one of my favorite movies
