Digital is more convenient
The only negative against physical media is the storage aspect, but unless you literally live in a broom closet there's no reason the average person wouldn't have enough storage space in their home for physical games. Most people don't even buy more than five new games a year anyway

Kabelpeople voted with their wallets. i have no leg to stand on since as a PC gamer now, i haven't had physicals in a long time for a lot of my games.
Switch 2 is still my last bastion of physicals and even that's digital light.

It's falling because the companies are prioritizing them and giving them digital at cheaper price points.
You sell a digital-only console during a pandemic for $100 cheaper than the disc version, what do you think people are gonna buy?
You start subscription services in which gamers can play hundreds of games for $19.99 a month during a time where new games are $70+ and most people are struggling financially, you think they won't subscribe?
So yes, digital games have taken over the market in recent years, but I think a big factor in that is the companies pushing them in that direction rather than gamers not wanting to own anything tangibly all of a sudden
exactly. it's like companies trying to claim that "ai is inevitable" as if they aren't the ones making a conscious effort to push it onto unwilling consumers as hard as possible. same bullshit excuse. and now sony is finally going mask-off and giving people no other choice.

what a dumb way to a***yze what losing physical media means towards full ownership. now any time you login they can tell you there’s an update or crash their servers all day and you can’t access your game now lmaooo good luck or better yet “sorry, the servers for this game are no longer supported on your system so to create library space, the game will be getting pulled from systems containing the item”

·3 repliesI've been buying digital copies myself, have a series x with 0 physical games and a digital ps5. The problem for me is that after finishing a game you simply cant trade it in or return it. I'd really appreciate if gaming corporations could let us trade/sell licenses to owned games for a discounted price. I don't need to keep a copy of Assassins creed for the rest of my life. I'd rather pass it on for 5$ in store credit than keeping it on my account just because
