You’re not wrong. Interestingly, it seems sales like this will still happen at retailers because Sony wrote in their message that starting Jan 2028 you’ll be able to buy the digital version from retailers. So retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, target, still could put the game on sale even Sony isn’t

However, buying the game isn’t your only option. You could wait for mgs delta to be added to ps plus or game catalogue. I often wait until lots of good games get added, then sign up for one month, play them all and cancel. Saved thousands that way.

Also I usually get the ps store credit at a discount at costco or Newegg, so you can save additionally that way, combine that with the ps store sale, and have huge savings
