GTA 6 the last game I'm purchasing anyways

With the exception of maybe Fable and a Majora's Mask remake if the OoT one hits.

Gen atlas collectors edition injected into my veins but I doubt they do a physical

    I love it

You will own a useless disc collection

My (and your) disc collection allowed you to share games with friends, and make money back on the games you no longer play.

Not that you ever had any friends to share your games with so idk

  • Barry Gibb

Just wait until they end support for your disc lol

Your disc is just a key to access the digital copy anyways

Disc & digital ownership are dead. Governments were too slow to react it is over, period.

    🏴‍☠️is back on the rise

accounts are the new bookshelves, tides shift, time marches forward, all our belongings will be ash one day.

In the time that I’m alive I’ll be happy with what I get. I won’t go on any forums to cry about inevitable change. A bunch of nerds will cry over their plastic boxes, and yeah, they’ll tell you to kill yourself because of what that plastic box means to them in the moment, but it’ll all be ash one day. Time marches forward.

It’s not the plastic box, it’s the fact that I can take my disc with my to a friends house, that we can trade games, and hold something with our hands.

    The box is f***ing meaningless

to be fair you can do digital game sharing and it’s even more convenient

I share with my sister, she lives far away so I’d be having to fly the boxes back and forth if I had a physical collection. But with digital it’s instantaneous.

You’re right about holding something, I get that collectors feel that and I’m sorry about this future honestly

Yah but they still make CDs, they still press vinyl. It's more niche but you can buy it. We are looking at a world with 0 physical video games in just two years basically.

Blu-Ray movies won't be far behind because of how large of a role Sony plays in that. Physical movies look significantly better than digital, even ignoring the ownership aspect this hurts the home theater experience

Physical sales just plummeted . Vinyl players and cd players in cars is vintage now . The games can’t even fit on the disc anymore is the issue . I said this was bound to happen if there wasn’t some sort of new 300gb Blu-ray Disc or usb drive that read seamlessly. That’s just not feasible . The disc had become an install some then rest download from internet

It was definitely inevitable. It's still bad , especially it happening so fast and Sony being the ones to initiate it

Get ready for the price of digital games to go way up and never go on sale because there is no used market competition lol. You think they gunna stop at $80?

  • They really said we not getting jail broken . I knew they saw Xbox one vision just knew it was too soon

Shout out Xbox for that but I have no doubt Sony announced this today because very soon Xbox will be closing down several studios and cancelling a bunch of games

I mean that’s inevitable too I had the feeling from Asha no more announce and concept art then silence for 3-5 years . Announcing things with gameplay 1-2 to 3 years max before dropping . Because some were playing with their patience and money too much for know returns

Love that lupe taught me what planned obsolescence is

dg reducing this to "noymenoymenoy pLastiC boxes" tho (should be another material by now tbf). sure digital would be efficient under any other economic system not meant to exploit.

but this is obviously a coordinated ploy to undermine consumer ownership. they just removed 500+ movies from psn accounts w no refunds. in a decade's time this will be no different

The reason games get announced so far ahead of time is to draw investor interest and to draw talent to the project. They'll continue to announce games 5~ years ahead of time

I think a lot of teams are stacked or its known when they are hiring. Its fiercely competitive. A lot of these being beholden to investors wanting to drum up hype crazy early isnt sustainable.
