Sony is currently in the middle of anti monopoly lawsuits over their digital store. This will only strengthen the cases. Eventually will need to allow other digital stores on PlayStation. It’s inevitable. That will drive down prices. Imagine a steam store 😍
me looking at my game collection later now that i know about fires

January 2028
it got pushed back again
At LAUNCH
Those games are not worth $70 years after the fact
It's not some hypothetical future expensive console. The PS5 Pro is currently $900. You are bugging if you don't think the PS6 will be $1000 minimum
It’s not out yet
Why are you making hypotheticals about a fire burning a console that isn’t released
You did it because you think big number make argument more impressive
It feels like I’m arguing with children
If a fire burns $5000 of games, that’s what you spent, that’s what was lost. The resale value is irrelevant in this case, unless you were literally about to sell your entire collection before the fire
You went to Half-Price Books
There are absolutely plenty of books, especially comic books, that appreciate in value as time passes
99% of comics past like the 80’s or 90’s are not appreciating in value.

Other stores aren’t coming to PlayStation lol

Maxxiing makes it sound like they going to commit arson to prove a point

I‘m crying
https://twitter.com/moshimoshimoan/status/2072335688545062941They forgot you pay for online and each game is 200 gigs

So the strongest version of the PS5 is currently $900 and you think the next-gen console won't be priced similarly?
If a fire burns anything then you lost what was spent, so again, your point is moot
Steam store isn’t coming to PlayStation man be for real
Maybe not Steam, but there are opportunities for alternative digital stores.
The most famous anti monopoly lawsuit is this one playstationyouoweus.co.uk
There are several others.
Alternative digital stores are coming.
wb the hypothetical where sony removes a game
A phase out was inevitable but to just flat out end it like that is kinda crazy

Incorrect
No it isn’t lol? The reason old comics are valuable is because people used to trash them after reading like newspapers, leading to scarcity. Nobody does that with modern comics and they’re all mass produced. Outside of super specific variant covers of things like #1’s for Batman or signed copies nobody is paying extra money for modern single issues. I can literally go buy modern Batman #1’s for $2 on EBay

I didn't say anything about single issues

If a fire burns anything then you lost what was spent, so again, your point is moot
I feel like most people own the ps5 that was $400-500 so that’s the scenario that makes sense to use for a hypothetical
Again, most stuff that burns doesn’t have a convenient, digital alternative
@Kr0niic @NobodyWins
i am the 10%

We're talking about a console where physical is not an option, hence, the $1000 PS6
Books have a convenient digital alternative and can easily be worth a lot of money if you own a lot of books. Again I ask: should people not own physical books?
I haven't had a disc rot or break since the 360 era

My overall point is pretty simple. Digital can withstand anything, fire, flood, hurricane, robbery, some little cousins f***ing with your s***, etc. basically any scenario the physical has issues. Even disc rot or the disc drive itself breaking down. Thus, a digital library is a solid investment that protects from these issues. My point isn’t that because of that you should just have no physical possessions at all, but in this one instance, having digital is superior in many ways.
Digital books are superior in their own ways, like audiobooks, which allow you to listen while doing something else. Physical books have their benefits as well, it’s up to you to decide ultimately. For games, I feel like it’s more cut and dry.
