1 this isnt true
2, Yeah lets argue about a higher amount so the people making $7 can watch congress b**** about it instead of getting them help
start with a lower amount and work from there, its better than nothing

the insane amounts of inflation and cost of living increases right now definitely aren't helping these problems either
Rent is up, used car prices are up, housing market is up, gas prices are up, etc so Synop is definitely right about that
Raising the minimum wage has seemed to accelerate this process. I'm not going to pretend to be an economist or anything, just definitely something worth discussing
Do you know how many houses they demolish to set up for businesses and gentrification of areas?
It's not building houses non-stop. You could do tiny home communities all over. You could have huge communal areas of housing.
People need to opportunity to live. People know now and have known that the system is not set up for them to have an opportunity to ever have something on their own.
turning 18 shouldnt get you a house lmao.
Inflation probably has more to do with covid relief bills than minimum wage right now though

Raising it to $15 still doesn't do enough. $25 should be the lowest.

Not sure where I put that, you keep plucking that out of the air.

25? How you come up with that

Works in Cuba
Literally ended homelessness with 20x less gdp than the US
Imagine being upset because of the idea of providing ALL people with housing, food, water, and access to good medical help
lol and who is paying for this 🤣🤣

raising minimum wage helps
but the capitalists have to respond
so they raise their prices or rents, or they cut workers in some industries. in some industries this isn't possible. a lot of ppl talk about how the restaurants will have to cut workers if they raise wages but we've seen this to not be really true, because a restaurant can't really fire workers since they need to have an actual kitchen staff.
obviously raising wages increases inflation to an extent, but not enough to offset the increase, that'd be a ridiculous line of thinking, especially since there are other policies that could be put in place
but, there's also a third option beyond raising prices or cutting workers that could be utilized when wages go up; the company just allows itself to see lower profits. but they will never, ever do that.
lol and who is paying for this 🤣🤣
bruh f*** out of this forum you have no idea what socialism is or how it works yet you're against it
25? How you come up with that
Because I make just a couple more dollars than that, and I would have a hard time renting on my own.
With student loans and everything else on top of finding low cost rent, it doesn't leave you with a ton left over. I am not super stressed about stuff at this dollar amount.
That's not what he did lol
That's the logic behind it tho and why its a part of the conversation at all

the fact these socialists attack people advocating welfare states so hard absurd
socialism is not about a welfare state. socialists believe the welfare state is a band-aid solution at best. you are mistaking social democracy and socialism.
socialists think the answer lies in ownership
social democrats think the answer lies in redistribution
I still haven't gotten an answer on what would be the issue with providing these rights to people.
@everyone debating socialists its futile
