never really was interested in engaging in politics until COVID but have always seen merit in a socialist view of what "democracy" should really strive for. i've really only just begun to read and listen to more theory, as well as historical recounting of how the US and other empires have thwarted that pursuit for something other than capitalism in smaller countries -- cuba especially interests me because my dad spent a lot of time there as a writer/journalist in the 80's and 90's, he even dined with Fidel a couple of times if you can believe it. I visited havana with him when i was younger and really enjoyed myself meeting cuban kids and cigar friends of his, and hated the way my friends' parents and teachers disparaged their whole livelihoods based only on the us propaganda campaign they've been swept under for so long.
anyway i'd love some recommendations for reading/listening regarding us imperialism and applied marxist theory

I’ve not yet read any Lenin, kinda looking for more contemporary stuff under the same vein — but that one is on the list for sure

others i rec are wretched of earth from Fanon great book on how colonization and the dehumanization that comes with it affects the minds of the colonized people, the last chapter where he discusses his patients stories still haunt me
Heard great things of How Europe underdeveloped Africa as well never read it personally tho.
Jakorta method is a great one as well talks about how the massacre of the Indonesian communists methods would later be implemented in South America with like Chile and Argentina

Jakarta method is one of the books that made me insanely depressed. Just a forewarning it's really heavy

Broke: kanye is becoming a rightist because he's a contrarian attention seeker
Woke: the shadow Hitlerite "Rick Rubin" is behind kanye's rightward turn, hoping to use kanyes status as an influence on white fratboys to push his agenda
lol...

The only union the Haz people will create between MAGAs and leftists is a union in disgust of them
