but in terms of the field, I want to seek solutions to the climate-driven dehydration of the california central valley, and that may involve work in hydroponics, irrigation, genetic modification, and things like that.
I'd love to work just one layer away from the laboratory/field, collecting, organizing, filtering, compiling, streamlining, presenting data.

RIP and I do appreciate a lot of what he did
But Allende should be a very disturbing lesson on why “democratic socialism” will never work. It baffles me that people see this s*** and don’t understand the need for an all around dictatorship of the proletariat and over bourgeoisie. Workers were literally begging to be given guns to stop the fascist threat and Allende refused out of some idealist bullshit

There’s actually a lot to be said about this and the impact that the mythologizing of Allende has had on the left which I think is an important thing people need to reckon with. But that’s for a longer post on a different day.

But I think a much more honest discussion needs to be had about him that left is for a lot of reasons is unwilling to have
People not drawing the correct lessons from Chile has literally set the left back by decades

yeah i agree always viewed him as a teacher by negative example but still it hurts to see someone try so hard to improve his people lives and fail.
