Mao on his cult of personality
Our friend‘s Lin Biao‘s speech — the center is urging to publish it. And I plan to agree to publish it. He speaks specifically on the subject of coups. On this question, there has been no such talk in the past.
The way he brings certain things up makes me feel unsettled overall. I have never believed that those booklets of mine have that sort of spiritual power. Now if he praises to the sky, the whole party and country do so too. It is like Wang Po selling melons, selling them and praising them. I have been forced by them to ascend Liang Mountain, it seems it won‘t do to disagree with them.
…
Objects all must go towards the opposite side. The more the praise, the heavier the fall. I am preparing to fall and be broken to pieces. That is no worry. Matter cannot be destroyed. But beaten into pieces I will be. The whole world has over 100 Communist Parties. Most of the parties don‘t believe in marxism-leninism. These people have even beaten Marx and Lenin into pieces, so what about how we will be treated? I urge you to pay attention to this question. Do not become dizzy in your head from victory. Frequently think of your weaknesses, shortcomings, and mistakes.

tbf if you know anything about italian history, virtually everything bad the country has done was a result of north italy. southern italy may as well be a completely different country when it comes to discourse - the idea of a "united italy" was controversial even during the imperialist era. Despite the fact the country was "technically" united in the 1800s, southern italy wasn't really keen on it and there was discrimination against southerners with questions if they belonged to the wider continental ancestry (they literally called it "The Southern Question" lmfao). South Italy has always been closer to MENA or an ambigious middle-counrty (like Turkey) than anything. I mean it was almost completely Islamic (not just Sicily) until Northern Italians essentially re-conquered the region

TIL a group of reaganite military scientists are the pioneers of climate change denial. Surprising but at the same time, of course they are.
Is it true Mao regarded the Taiping rebellion as an unfinished revolution? @Womanpuncher69 @PhilipMorris

He viewed many of the peasant uprising damaging the fuedal order but not bringing anything new in terms of productive forces or relations of productive forces so the peasants uprising would just be ended up being failures and used by another sect of landlords or nobility.
Though on the Taipeng rebellion itself i know he viewed it differently due to the anti-imperialist tint it had. I don’t think he seen it as an unfinished revolution, the 1911 revolution was viewed in that regard

Journal Entry by Che Guevara, 12 December 1962
“In his frequent basketball matches, Fidel has started using a new move he simply calls ‘The Step.’ It is undeniably effective, yet is its goodness equally undeniable? As revolutionaries we must not merely pay attention to ends, but to means. I worry that this flash and pomp is not befitting of the revolutionary leader. It serves to separate him too much from those caught in the chains of a maudlin life, marred by oppression and economic strife. Yes, it leads to a basket, but at what cost to the communal spirit?”
