    Synopsis

Sounds like a good argument against the capitalist class

Capitalists are the other way around, they produce more then they consume by investing their capital goods.

And that’s coming from someone who was sent to a private school and wished they went to a local public school

That's not for you to decide, value is subjective and decided by supply and demand. But either way, what about jobs like farming and construction work? Who's going to do those?

I’m not talking about value, obviously people value it enough to pay for it. I mean society will not collapse if people no longer have to fill boxes for am*zon if they don’t want to.

As for farming and construction, people can organize and work together to fit their communities needs. Everyone has skin in the game so they are way more likely to work together rather than just passing the job off to someone who has less money than them

They tried that in the 20s, millions of people starved to death

When people aren’t farming in a competitive market, efficiency plummets

@LuxuryWhip Why do you view communism as a static thing?

Capitalism has existed for hundreds of years and was the direct successor to feudalism, it's been tried hundreds of times.

It hasn't even been hundred years since the end of the Russian civil war and communism has only been attempted a handful of times since then. It's had it's failures and successes. But we can learn from them and the next Socialist country can avoid those mistakes.

That and the fact that communism has been violently opposed by capitalists every single time it’s been tried

I went to a public primary school and then a private high school

Never liked the snobby upper class environment in my high school

But that doesn’t take away from the fact that parents have the right to choose. Why aren’t more options better than just having 1?

Going to a private high school doesn’t magically give you good grades and a better start in life

Whether you go to a private school or a public school, it’s comes down to the work you put in

Yes, perhaps private schools can afford to employ better teachers, but that doesn’t do anything if a kid doesn’t want to learn

You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it drink

It comes to down to taking personal responsibility and making the best out of what you’ve got

but many kids which live relatively poverty have less of a chance to make it and break the cycle then someone which lives in hamptons or some s*** where they got unbelievable amounts resources to help their child out

I would argue that a lot of the time it’s the kids that are less well off who are more driven to succeed (assuming they’ve been raised well by their parents)

A lot of wealthy kids rest on the laurels of the achievements of the parents and end up failing in adulthood

    I’m a blue collar worker, a tradesman

I also spent a lot of my time in my teens hanging on the streets with those that went to public schools because I didn’t fit in at my high school

    Stop making dumb assumptions

What does that have to do with thinking that being poor and going to public school motivates you to do better? You obviously didn’t grow up poor if you went to private school, so you don’t know what it’s like

yea same nah our system is decent but not excellent

nordic system basically is pretty good and pretty close to my ideal country

competitive capitalism combined with a large percentage of the population employed by the public sector with heavy spending on welfare and things like free health care, schooling and higher education system = lower inequality
