nah we have terrible public transport i live in the same city as my uni and it would take me an hour and half to 2 hours via public transport compared to just 20 mins with driving
Still better than USA lmao
Canada has better transit than USA
nyc unironically has some of the best transit in the world its just heavily skewed because all stations except like 3 look like they're from metro 2033 after a nuclear war
Still better than USA lmao
Toronto has pretty good public transport tbh well compared to rest of Canada
We need more underground passageways and skywalks between buildings as the climate gets worse, with harsh winters and harsh summers

Yeah NYC is like one of the few exceptions.
There was a Twitter thread comparing Shanghai subway stations to NYC ones and Americoids got really mad
ITS NOT REPRESENTATIVE!!!
I took this tram to work
Looks like the meme that is supposed to represent the future

Our trams are awesome and super reliable
Our subways too
Our urban rail sucks ass though. Trams and subways are run by a city corporation, urban rail is ran by the national corporation Deutsche Bahn. Our urban rail is f***ing horrendous, always late, they pull up with 3-car trains instead of 4-cars during rush hour, just stupid s*** like that.
All of Frankfurts urban rails go through the same f***ing tunnel. Guess what happens when one of them gets stuck or late? The entire system collapses. Which f***ing mouthbreather designed this s***
Our trains are all from the 1990s. @Scratchin_Bandit can attest how badly they suck, they ain't got no AC. Deutsche Bahn sucks ass ever since they got privatized

even detroit got better looking stations than NYC. NYC is all functionality except like 2-3 stations. they all look like areas from fallout
I think the issue of transport infrastructure is exactly the pressure point where we can tear a hole in the contradictory framework of American capitalism and make a move towards socialism
Im one of the few users on this site who lived both in Europe and America
I can say that I barely remember any streets in America because I was always driven around by parents or something. I was in the suburbs. I remember the buildings that were my destination, but not the roads to there, since I never walked. We didn't have a sidewalk out of our neighborhood. The school was maybe 2km from us but I had to be driven always. Even for small grocery shopping you had to go with your car. Living without a car was impossible
Not trying to do the europe vs america because i dislike this s***hole too but I cant imagine living like this id go insane

Our neighborhood was a bunch of houses connected with lawns and a community pool. The pool was nice and for free. It was like an island though, you couldn't get out of there without a car. As kids we would play in the lawns. Some people would get angry when we ran from lawn to lawn. It was fun having a neighborhood but after a certain age I'm sure it would have really sucked to be stranded there. But then again American teens drive cars with 15 or something.
It was all houses, no stores or nothing. Just homes
I took 5 bus trips yesterday for free and finished all my drives within 15 minutes I cant imagine how much money and time I would spend on searching for parking

Driving a car everywhere is such a nuisance man i rly cant imagine it

A lot of Americans would genuinely rather drive a car everywhere than take public transport with other ppl even if it was a viable option
Also one of the keys is density. F*** low-density motherfuckers and NIMBYs. High density is the name of the game. Even 15.000 people per km² creates amazing vibrant neighborhoods. I live in one and it's awesome. You have everything near you, tons of restaurants and cafes, a park, doctors, shops, gyms, within walking distance, and yet my street is quiet. There's a tram station and a subway station right next to me as well as a grocery store within 1 minute walking distance. Just having 6 store buildings is enough, mfers always envision f***ing Akira Blade Runner when you talk about density lmao

Because public transport in the USA is full of junkies and s***

You're lucky you went before the 9 Euro Ticket hit
Now the trains look straight out of Bangalore the way they are full
