The traffic solution in my cinty slowly becoming "add more lanes"
ONE MORE LANE BRO JUST ONE MORE
driving on the highway today had me in a terrible mood cant even lie
U Americoid?
Why has city planning become everybodys niche interest tho all of a sudden
Heh...I liked it before it was cool....
A rare one in the opposite direction is stupidpol
Wasn't always that bad
But after a while their whole gimmick became "we're more leftist bc we don't talk about racism"
And then they're all just classic european anti-immigration socdems
a lot of people in general who try the "fiscally left socially right" thing fall into the same trap as actual mainstream conservatives where they become in-differentiable in simply being reactionary to culture war concepts and thinking policing those views creates a greater purity of belief or rate of success when in reality they're just ben shapiro + healthcare (no wonder trotskyists birthed neoconservatism
). thats also why theyre basically just european socdems, because theyre only fighting reactionary battles which puts them within the same framework as the rest of the west, which is simply the linear back and forth as typical liberalism/conservatism. this same thing happens for self-proclaimed "fiscally left socially left" organizations too of course - the DSA is socially reactionary too but in a much different way
its possible theoretically for actual "fiscally left socially right" views to exist obviously but itd have to be disconnected from the actual action/reaction bilinearity of western social dynamics which no one online is capable of doing
yup
Im one of the few users on this site who lived both in Europe and America
I can say that I barely remember any streets in America because I was always driven around by parents or something. I was in the suburbs. I remember the buildings that were my destination, but not the roads to there, since I never walked. We didn't have a sidewalk out of our neighborhood. The school was maybe 2km from us but I had to be driven always. Even for small grocery shopping you had to go with your car. Living without a car was impossible
One huge IDEOLOGY/They Live moment you can never turn off again in your brain: Just go outside and walk around and think about how much space in your city exists solely for parked cars

yeah its like that almost everywhere here
the only somewhat salvageable places are the towns that are really small but surrounded by big cities
every other suburb is just an array of nondescript homes + big corp shopping center off to the side somewhere

yes and no. def talked to a lot of boomers who say who can recognize this stuff and have distaste for it but its usually not as much in a practical manner as much as it is direct or indirect nostalgia. like youll hear a lot of middle aged (and sometimes younger) people loathe and complain about this type of urbanization but its usually more from the standpoint of like "back in the 70s you know there were shops lining every block, they tore em all down to make a freeway"
