It was, since the 17th century it was only ever not part of China during Japanese colonization
Both ROC and PRC regard it as part of China, which they both claim as a whole
50 years isn't some small bit
50 years isn't some small bit
Lemme guess, you also consider Hong Kong to be colonized by China
How exactly do you think 95% of the island turned out to be Han Chinese lmao
17th century invasion
17th century invasion
And how do you solve the logical contradiction in your brain that the aborigenes of Taiwan don't rule the country currently and are a tiny minority, if not for being part of the Chinese world? :word:

Taiwan is part of the Chinese world. I don't see a contradiction
Kingdom of Tungning were literally led by all Han chinese, this is like saying Shun Dynasty wasn't a part of China because other kingdoms existed
I, mean yeah, much of the classification of historical states come down to semantics - was the Confederacy part of the US? Like yes obviously but also no.
Since it relies on disparate integrations of powers you have to lean on ethnic/cultural claims to show how the long-term claim of territory to a "country" is only considerable down the line in retrospect
I'm not "pro-taiwan" or anything, which is why i left the last point it goes both ways that the KMT can't claim taiwan is "theirs" either for the same reason, i don't really personally care if china wants to claim taiwan or not. they can have it
my point is just that the claims to land all rely on how you want to a***yze history, and that also changes between cultural lenses, it's not as straight forward as pointing out qing -> japan -> china, modern china isn't just a reformation of the qing empire; it is only ethnically,Turkey may as well use the same logic post-Ottoman Empire to claim the rest of Anatolia since Turkey is the successor of the Ottomons (they do this anyway lol). All I'm saying is if you want to argue about claims to land you have get into deeper debates over what does or doesn't actually compose a state. It's just food for thought, it's not supposed to be an argument explicitly against China or in favor of Taiwan
Taiwan is part of the Chinese world. I don't see a contradiction
Kingdom of Tungning: 1661, 1680s
Qing Dynasty control over Taiwan: until 1895
ROC claiming control over China: 1945 until 1992
1992 two consensus: 1992, upheld until 2019
That's about 315 years of either being part of China or claiming control over the rest of China.

This is literally the case for every single nation in existence, I don't know why you have to point it out
50 years isn't some small bit
It's not but it's colonialism, not Taiwanese independence

exactly, which is why im saying is china supporters in the taiwan-china conflict should leave the logic at modern PRC good, modern taiwan bad therefore PRC should eliminate reactionary taiwan and finish their conflict with the KMT. invoking history doesn't actually do anything else but impose abstract ethical conundrums. the same goes inversely for taiwan supporters. acting like they need to preserve some lineage of history is just as ridiculous.

Like @krishna_bound said, whether the Qing dynasty period counts is up for debate.
I understood your comment to mean the last 300 years.

Lmao, so Qing Dynasty wasn't China because what? With that logic, Germany only exists since 1871 and Italy only exists since 1861. Nobody here is talking about legal succession of states because it is irrelevant to the discussion (more important for which treaties carry over)
It's not but it's colonialism, not Taiwanese independence
They weren't independent under Qing dynasty rule either though

95% of the population is Han and it literally is kilometers off the shore of China, that's all the reason they need
They weren't independent under Qing dynasty rule either though
Exactly they were part of China
95% of the population is Han and it literally is kilometers off the shore of China, that's all the reason they need
sure, there is a cultural ethnonationalist argument to be made in that favor which may be hard to debate, but i'm talking about leftists who support PRC takeover of Taiwan online. there's no reason for that that should go further than PRC good Taiwan bad
They weren't independent under Qing dynasty rule either though
Thus proving our point

I support Taiwan being taken over because it f***s with the USA, quite simple
I support Taiwan being taken over because it f***s with the USA, quite simple
that's my point
I'm not saying it's invalid, I'm just saying I don't see why you'd feel the need to argue about historical chronology or ethnicity since that's obviously all irrelevant to why it should or shouldn't be taken over
Also I despise Taiwanese culture simping for their former slavemasters Japan, nothing disgusts me more than being cucked for your former colonial master
95% of the population is Han and it literally is kilometers off the shore of China, that's all the reason they need
Exactly they were part of China
Same as they were part of Japan
that's my point

Because every state needs some semblance of justification to exist and be reproduced by the public, with history, ethnicity and sharing the language always being strong arguments.
