what peaked my interest here was socialism without as much marxist theory?
@spongebob
You could look at people like Sankara, for one, and other revolutionary people, and probably some stuff in Latin America, other asian nations
the thing is though a lot of socialist s*** comes from ML ideas

yeah for sure

@spongebob
I'm calling a lifeline on this cause I'm still in some sort of novice/early stage of my understanding
not sure what you’re asking here really. i think anything in the sphere?
topics like imperialism, fiance, philosophy, or just general intro stuff
topics like imperialism, fiance, philosophy, or just general intro stuff
general intro stuff, i also can’t remember anything i read, so that hurts also
yeah for sure
i would say go for maybe one of the basic texts of lenin, a couple from mao which @Womanpuncher69 can link u to, it helps a***yzing the tenant/landlord class,
then a little bit of Castro, I'm not as educated on African socialists/revolutionary but I know its there, there's a lot of Asian countries too that probably have some useful stuff
There's so much reading thats the thing about socialism is there's not just like 3 main texts its so vast
general intro stuff, i also can’t remember anything i read, so that hurts also
I would say
State and Revolution from Lenin (because it talks about the dictatorship of the proletariat which is an essential concept)
@Womanpuncher69 what's a foundational maoist text?
then some more marx and engels
maybe some luxembourg? i haven't gotten into her writing yet
Then there's people like Parenti
hey fellas can you recommend me so socialist readings or adjacent. just finished wage labour and capital by marx
A good continuation would be Imperialism by Lenin to learn how the mechanisms of capitalism progress into imperial tendencies. From there read state and revolution to understand how the state reinforces these structures and why violent Revolution is seen as imperative
Blackshirts and Reds contextualizes Leninism into the 20th century and a***yzes how Lenin’s theory manifested itself in the century. It then postulates questions about how we can move forward from the 1900’s and it’s events
s*** really had me saying "I would say...." multiple times i really am robotic
capitalism won im about to go buy stocks see ya guys
sike
state and revolution
imperialism
socialism utopian and scientific
how europe underdeveloped africa
neo-colionalism
on contradiction
on practice
pedagogy of the oppressed
wretched of the earth
Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.
and yet most evangelic / wasp Christians in America are bible thumping capitalists

if youre like me whos really bad at reading and staying focused
blackshirts and reds is the one book i read in like two days and was intrigued the whole way, Parenti writes super smoothly, usually takes me way longer to finish literature but not this one
think its more about historical s*** than explaining theory tho
read principles of communism by engels beforehand its super short

i wouldn’t know how to qualify myself as a reader since i’ve only ever read for school assignments. but now i’m doing it as cognitive therapy to grow my attention span and help refurbish everything i lost in my cognitive stroke, but now that i have anterograde amnesia it really sucks because i can’t remember what i read as soon as i close the book

They are vulgar anti-imperialists. What no theory does to a mfer = support the other side always
Still important work they are doing but to be taken with a grain of salt
yea thats exactly what i mean
you got Dengoids like Ajit Singh jumping through hoops to prove that modern China is "ackshually socialist" - theres some merit there but he goes way too OD riding Chinas d***
think they do the same thing with Russia. Max and Rania used to be vehemently anti-Assad circa ~2013 but they suddenly switched up, they got ulterior motives

Dengists been celebrating when Russia makes any new gains, they’ve been actively rooting on the Russian army
um does anyone have any info on yugoslavia's socialist development despite it being a federation? how did it hold up compared to the ussr's? mainly asking bc the war of succession in my country may sever the possibility of the current unitary state's existence in the future, and i'm wondering how socialist development on a (con)federal basis would still be feasible. i need to get more familiar with political economy and the like in general tho

Here's something put out by the People's Daily in 1963 on Yugoslavia

Aaron Mate isn't that bad tho
are Aaron Mate/Max Blumenthal/Grayzone people socialists? they do a lot of dunking on Western Imperialism but never seen them actually discuss any theory
something seems off
i read the occasional piece from them, their work is good i just find them very sus like they dont seem human to me
They do good journalism, but Max Blumenthal is definitely a weirdo lmao, Ben Norton left Grayzone because of "different directions".
With some of em their "ideology" is unironically just anti-Americanism. So they're automatically right when it comes to international politics 99% of the time, but sometimes they do spread some misinformation by either not vetting the info or intentionally because they are targeted by US imperialism, like Tragedy said he's doing for Ukraine now
