he is jealous of our way of life and wants to annihilate it because we are shining too hard. Simply put, Putin is a hater.
its either this or comparing political figures to events in Harry Potter, Star Wars, or Marvel movies
Discussing corporations and countries as if they were human beings in general is one of the reasons the west wont survive for long

"putin is trying to take over the countries in the baltics and eastern europe...it's like he's trying to assemble the infinity stones"
It's kinda depressing to think about how much this conflict and liberals increased hostile attitude towards Russia was fueled by the idea that Trump defeated Hillary in 2016 because the KGB posted too many dank memes

anti-russian attitudes in the US have existed since like bush era, in any media about war/military/invasions/etc. or whenever enemy countries needed to be portrayed in film, if they didn't want to go the usual hollywood route of "just use arabs", then 99.9% of the time it was Russia. pretty sure Russia is the villain in like virtually every call of duty/etc game for example.

Oh it always been there but it's undeniable that it got to more than hysterical levels since Russiagate tho

captivating but like.... i guess that’s what comes with revolutionary politics
s*** is scary as f***

assassination attempts, purges, murders of family members

that’s just on a human level like what it’d be like to be in the mix of that
scary as s***
are Aaron Mate/Max Blumenthal/Grayzone people socialists? they do a lot of dunking on Western Imperialism but never seen them actually discuss any theory
something seems off

They are war reporters not political commentators
Why would they discuss marxist theory?

Why would they discuss marxist theory?
theory is intrinsically linked to war and current conflicts, why would you not discuss it in order to provide additional context and clarity so people can understand better

They are vulgar anti-imperialists. What no theory does to a mfer = support the other side always
Still important work they are doing but to be taken with a grain of salt

I've seen a poll saying anti-Russian sentiments in the USA have reached the level of 1982 again (the poll runs since 1979), the peak was 1984 I think.

I wonder how much the fact that it was LITERALLY 1984 unironically contributed to anti-USSR sentiment

well for one
there's marxism and that whole foundation for socialist history, s*** like the paris commune,
then there's the Russian revolution/bolshevik revolution, soviet union as a whole , (lenin, stalin, etc)
then theres maoism and that whole history there
then theres socialism that doesnt necessary cling to marxist theory (which im not super read on)
s*** like the Cuban revolution and their story and Castro's speeches and stuff, then there's the green book from gaddafi
and then there's like, more modern writings on socialism
