i don't really use twitter esp not socially so i thought "bedtime abolition" was like some kind of inside joke/meme, when i found out this was real actual discourse i think it kind of cemented just how absolutely f***ed zoomer leftism is as a movement

i blame festering grounds like the breadtube scene and tangential subreddits/discords tbh. you can trace almost everything in these communities to being enabled by community leaders who fashion themselves more or less as intellectual role models (cursed phrase). especially as a lot of these people are actual kids or at least teenagers, it's not surprising what pops up in discourse there. which to one extent is whatever, like i don't really care if kids want to gravitate towards flanderized drama politics as entertainment, that's been going on forever, but because of how interconnected everything is socially online it's impossible to escape these people and their wider community. there's also no reason that like 30 year olds should be interacting pseudonymously with like young teenagers and discussing things like "family abolition" or whatever

I met with DSA people yesterday it was the worst political experience of my life.

I had to temporarily move cities because of college, there's no communist organizing scene here and I don't know anybody so I figured I'd try and just start attending "progressive" events to see if I could make some connections and push people to the left.

The DSA was holding this meeting to discuss organizing in the future so I went. I get there and the DSA is 8 nerdy white guys who look like they haven't showered in weeks. They start the meeting by trying to build an alliance with some sort of center-left environmental club, the environmental club basically says no. But after they leave the DSA members tout it as the "greatest success they've ever had."

Furthermore, they propose a "Peace in Ukraine rally." I suggest it be called an "Anti-US Imperialism" rally instead and I kid you not the entire room gasps. They all start saying "we can't say that kind of thing," "we can't let people think we're anti-US they'll never listen to us."

Like how little faith in the masses does the DSA have.

    The entire room gasps

It was f***ing crazy, like how the f*** can you call yourselves progressive but be that afraid of using the word "US imperialism."

I don't think I can go to any of the events hosted by these weirdos. There's no way they can build any kind of working class audience for me to even try and talk with.

Plus if they found out I was a Maoist they'd probably think I was trying to get people to show up and jump them
