i went into this in another thread so not gonna re-type everything here but im kinda disgusted by the antiwork subreddit. it's one thing to be disaffected or outcast by the system and not want to participate in something clearly exploitative, but it's another thing to resent the mere concept of work itself while also simultaneously parroting dumbass stereotypical radlib talking points. i think them crashing corporate websites is funny but beyond that im skeptical because the core of the subreddit is selfish super-democrat reddit liberals

I don't see them s***ting on the idea of work itself tbh

They already banned "politics" from that subreddit btw

    reddit.com/r/antiwork/comments/rdzsiu/mods_need_to_address_rightwing_infiltration_of/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

This is the biggest post on the subreddit rn. It’s specifically calling for antiwork to be a political and leftist space.

Even then, simply throwing away the site for the sake of it being infiltrated isn’t a valid take. It’s obviously still filled with leftists that are doing leftist things that should be provided leftist support. F*** the mods

People will want to return to work eventually, this is a good outlet to work with as people transition into understanding their own power. It’s better to throw theory out the window in the very moment and understand what these people just became cognizant of

i wouldnt equate the concept of labor with the concept of exploitative capitalist labor. people don't want to be exploited, it's not that people don't want to "work". however people are generally a collection of social and societal conditioning and in current society the concept of work is conditioned to be equal to the participation in an exploitative system. being anti-labor is an aristocratic desire

I don’t necessarily see it like that in terms of the long run

One of the core tenets of communism is lowering labor-time dawg And making the conditions of labor non-alienated so that whatever labor is left is done not as a job but because people actually want to do it

"For as soon as the distribution of labour comes into being, each man has a particular, exclusive sphere of activity, which is forced upon him and from which he cannot escape. He is a hunter, a fisherman, a herdsman, or a critical critic, and must remain so if he does not want to lose his means of livelihood; while in communist society, where nobody has one exclusive sphere of activity but each can become accomplished in any branch he wishes, society regulates the general production and thus makes it possible for me to do one thing today and another tomorrow, to hunt in the morning, fish in the afternoon, rear cattle in the evening, criticise after dinner, just as I have a mind, without ever becoming hunter, fisherman, herdsman or critic."

These are people who have realized that the work and passion they’ve put their lives into has led to next to nothing for themselves. They’re in shock. Being anti-labor is okay for the time being especially as they participate in this platform to inform and organize.

I’m sure many will return to labor at conditions improve and they contain a consciousness of their own power as a laborer

the subreddit initially started as a means of people who wanted to be NEETs and were entitled to not working. the change over to the current political state is because of the growth of the subreddit + assignment of typical politics reddit moderators. there's a reason the subreddit is literally called "antiwork" and not "anti-corporate" or something, its not just a semantic choice

    what is cockshot

Wrote a book expanding on the proposal by Karl Marx in the Critique of the Gotha Programme where he advocates for the abolition of money via labor vouchers

Expands on how labor vouchers can be used in a future socialism to organize society

Expands how to do modern economic planning using computer-technology with a focus on lowering human labor time since time is the most valuable resource

That's his main work, he writes about a few other things too, like historical materialism or the intersection between physics and economics.

    users.wfu.edu/cottrell/socialism_book/new_socialism.pdf

This book was originally written to be released in the 1980s on how to improve the USSR economy but then the collapse already happened so it got re-purposed into a book on how to learn from some of the Soviet mistakes and build on some of its advantages.

I'm not talking about time or effort or categorization of labor. I'm talking about the mere act of doing something at all

When we look at current systems, the system is highly obsfucated and requires steps of exploitative participation to go from point A (work) -> point B (provisions i.e. Food or Shelter) because the means of production for provisions are not owned by the same actors. If own the means of production, the means of production is not autonomous; you are just removing all obsfucation so instead of exploitation or systematic participation, you are directly hopping from point A to B by receiving the direct fruits of your labor. That is the problem with "anti-work"; you are receiving the direct fruits of your labor. (Or, if you look at it as more of a collective/commune thing, then the equal participation in a non-exploitative system provides a mean normalization for a community without the need for an economy (i.e. the "proto-communism" of native american tribes)). In all of these things there is nothing about "eliminating labor" as a holistic idea or sitting back and letting everyone else do the work; it is just that you do less work because you do not need to take the arbitrary detached steps the system exploits you toward

also before we get into it yes i am aware about writing on automation but we are not there yet by any means

I dont see a problem with a mass neet movement either

i mean people who live off the grid can basically be classified as neets.

I'm getting sick of advertising and corporate brand accounts on Twitter and s*** like that.

I feel like a quarter my life is filled with looking at some type of advertisement. S*** is depressing to even wrap my head around.
