its interesting how important the time we live in is for the future, and habitable depends on how successful our movements are, as capitalism has shown again and again they wont be able to combat the climate crisis. One of the best scenarios I hear from the climate crisis if we dont resolve the core issues is human population reducing below 1 billion in 2100, the humans live in that period would look back at us and just be disappointed how the capitalist massively f***ed up but how the socialist movements completely f***ed up by losing in the battle vs the capitalist. Thats if they get educated on history and s***.

seeing “leftists” getting caught up in this reductionism themselves is annoying

no leftists do this outside of vaushite “socialists”
You can’t even be a socialist if you’re not looking at the bigger picture of what the US is

Zizek is literally your red army grandpa who made a successful business in the capitalist era and tries desperately to relate to his past
For the past year the LCP in Brazil has been fighting to retake land that was stolen from peasants nearly two decades ago. They forcibly took back the land last July and have since fended off the Brazilian state by force stopping multiple attempts by the state to massacre them.
The state of Rondônia has relinquished and is now giving the peasants their land back.

lmao, honestly I'm interested to see if his book that comes out in a couple weeks isn't recycled s***. fair amount of time between the rushed pandemic books and this new release

Report: Sudan Coup Leader Informed US of Plan to Seize Power
According to a report from Axios, Sudan’s new leader General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, who seized power Monday, told the US of the military’s plans to take control of the government a day before the coup.
Jeffrey Feltman, the US special envoy for the Horn of Africa, met with al-Burhan on Sunday, and the Sudanese general said the military might take control of the government from former Prime Minister Abdallah Hamdok.
On Monday, Feltman met with both al-Burahn and Hamdock to discuss tensions between Sudan’s civilian leadership and the military. Just hours after the meeting, the military seized power.
In response to the coup, the US has condemned the move and suspended $700 million in financial aid for Sudan. Last year, the US agreed to provide assistance to Sudan after the Trump administration removed Sudan from the state sponsor of terrorism list.
As part of the deal, Sudan agreed to pay $335 million in compensation to victims of the 1998 US embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania that were carried out by al-Qaeda even though Osama bin Laden was not living in Sudan at the time of the attacks. In response to the embassy bombings, the US destroyed a pharmaceutical factory in Sudan.
The US began discussing removing Sudan from the terror list after Omar al-Bashir, who ruled the country since 1993, was ousted by a coup in 2019. The Trump administration added normalization with Israel as a last-minute condition. Sudan agreed to the normalization, but many political forces in the country are opposed to the idea, and Khartoum has not officially opened diplomatic relations in Israel.
An unnamed Israeli official told Israel Hayom that the latest coup in Sudan is good news for the normalization effort. The official said al-Burhan was more likely to strengthen ties with Israel than Hamdock.

Soldier admits role in 1987 murder of Burkina Faso's revolutionary leader Sankara
A former army private admitted at a trial on Tuesday that he had helped transport a hit squad to assassinate Burkina Faso's revolutionary leader, Thomas Sankara, 34 years ago.
The trial unfolding at a military court in Ouagadougou is being closely followed by the Burkinabe public, many of whom hope it will shed light on one of their country's darkest chapters.
Fourteen people are on trial for the 1987 assassination in which Sankara and 12 others were cut down in a hail of bullets at a top government meeting.
The accused include Sankara's friend and former comrade-in-arms, Blaise Compaore, who came to power after the bloodbath.
In testimony to the court, former private Yamba Elise Ilboudo, 62, admitted a charge of complicity in endangering state security.
But he said his actions were unpremeditated -- he had not taken part in any meeting to plan the assassination, nor had he taken part in the shooting.
He said that on the day of the October 15 1987 coup, he was "at Blaise Compaore's home" with other men.
"We were under the orders of Hyacinthe Kafando, as head of security," Ilboudo said.
Kafando, who became chief warrant officer in Compaore's presidential guard after the coup, is alleged to have been in charge of the hit squad. He is on the run.
Compaore has always denied suspicions that he engineered the assassination and likewise is being tried in absentia.
Ilboudo said he was told by Kafando to drive to the meeting which Sankara attended.
When they arrived, Kafando and another individual called Maiga, "who had been driving Blaise Compaore's car, got out and opened fire," he testified.
Kafando then ordered the men in the two cars to get out.
Some "went to the rear of the building where President Sankara was", Ilboudo said.
He said that he remained in the car during what happened next, and did not open fire.
Dark episode
Compaore ruled for 27 years before being deposed by a popular uprising in 2014 and fleeing to neighbouring Ivory Coast.
Another prominent defendant is Compaore's former right-hand man, General Gilbert Diendere, who once headed the elite Presidential Security Regiment.
Compaore and Diendere face charges of complicity in murder, harming state security and complicity in the concealment of corpses.
Diendere is already serving a 20-year sentence for masterminding a plot in 2015 against the transitional government that followed Compaore's ouster.
Burkina Faso has long been burdened by silence over Sankara's assassination and many are angry that the killers have gone unpunished.
Sankara, a Marxist-Leninist, was an army captain when he came to power in a coup in 1983, aged just 33.
A charismatic leader who railed against capitalism, he threw out the country's name of Upper Volta, a legacy of the French colonial era, and renamed it Burkina Faso, which means "the land of honest men".He pushed ahead with a socialist agenda of nationalisations and banned female genital mutilation, polygamy and forced marriages.

what does this mean u think
what does this mean u think
Axios is spook central. Located 20 minutes from the Pentagon. Probably happy they have plausibility deniability for this coup given their history. Cynically maybe they hid their hand and made it seem like they were okay with it to take a hardline position against it after. That’s pure speculation though. At the very least they are in contact with these sorts by their nature and maybe favored the establishment in place. Who knows.
