"We in the Black Panther Party, because of our dedication and understanding, went into the valley knowing that the people are in the valley, knowing that our plight is the same plight as the people in the valley, knowing that our enemies are on the mountain, to our friends are in the valley, and even though its nice to be on the mountaintop, we're going back to the valley. Because we understand that there's work to be done in the valley, and when we get through with this work in the valley, then we got to go to the mountaintop. We're going to the mountaintop because there's a motherfucker on the mountaintop that's playing King, and he's been bullshitting us. And weve got to go up on the mountain top not for the purpose of living his life style and living like he lives. We've got to go up on the mountain top to make this motherfucker understand, goddamnit, that we are coming from the valley!"
No better ending to a speech ever. RIP fred

This pamphlet was written in August and September 1917. I had already drawn up the plan for the next, the seventh chapter, "The Experience of the Russian Revolutions of 1905 and 1917". Apart from the title, however, I had no time to write a single line of the chapter; I was "interrupted" by a political crisis--the eve of the October revolution of 1917. Such an "interruption" can only be welcomed; but the writing of the second part of this pamphlet ("The Experience of the Russian Revolutions of 1905 and 1917") will probably have to be put off for a long time. It is more pleasant and useful to go through the "experience of revolution" than to write about it.
this is a huge flex

I understand the criticism but it's kind of whack and old man screaming at clouds s*** lol. Dude says he recognizes the movie is mainly about O'neal and his relationship with the feds, but then goes on the complain that they did not spend enough time on Hampton's politics and the rainbow coalition, and how they could have made a longer movie to accommodate that. And he immediately pointed to the Irishman, and how thats 3.5 hours - a movie by an established director that had its own share of production issues. Maybe the writers didn't wanna get into that s***? You gotta think about the audience too. Who's watching this? HBO subscribers who probably have no idea who Fred Hampton is and maybe falsely think the Black Panthers were just some black supremacy group. Beating these viewers over the head with political theory isn't gonna do anything. S*** will always be a dramatization. I don't think a significantly different movie would have been made if we lived in a socialist society. The problems of the film are outside of that. Unless you straight up just do want a workers revolution call to arms propaganda film. However, they still go to the point to present, multiple times, that Hampton is clearly anti-capitalist and a socialist. He name drops Mao and talks about the global proletariat revolution. Like it's not misleading at all in that s***.
Anyway, a***yzing art is important, but only looking at it through a Maoist lens like this is miserable. Great film.
