They have been blockaded for many years. No one denies the damage sanctions do to an economy, but central planning is clearly a huge problem too

Economic calculation problem, the state is less able to respond to civilians needs than a market is. Markets have price signalling, states must go off of surveys, secondary data, statistics which is cool- it can work. But peoples needs can often change quickly and the state is slower than price signals and incentives. This isnt always the case though, things such as healthcare are better with state involvement to ensure fixation on their objective and so no one is priced out.

This problem is an argument against state control and authoritarianism. It is not an argument against all socialism, which is why I explicitly said marxist leninism. This point I'm making is not even anti socialist.

The soviet union also had a centrally planned economy and needed to liberalise, the soviet union was much more resource rich, larger and powerful than cuba and needed reform

I'm sure there are genuine leftists with these views, but a lot of them are defs trolls. People look at these accounts and get further distanced from the left cuz they foolishly think one persons views are representative of an entire idealogy. It's straight up scary how much influence fascists have on the Internet, they're often the ones planting ideas and controlling the narrative. Not sure how you combat this, guess just ignore it and dont give em any validation
