krishna boundsocial atomization w youth is probably the most pressing social issue of our time. its a shame that this discussion has been completely decimated by a mixture of grifters (andrew tate types), rètards (jordan peterson types), hyper-online communities, social opportunists, and people who just refuse to take part in the conversation.
the way the discussion has been contextually framed to seem like "men just complaining they can't get laid" or "why do you care when x is being LITERALLY GENOCIDED" has basically ensured there will never be a good faith discussion of this except by people whoa re already keen to pre-agree with each other. like people can say whatever they want about how this is just some lowkey issue affecting "loser losers" or "toxic masculinity" or something but this s*** is universal and has a higher chance of leading to some violent social tipping point than probably any current direct political trend in the west otherwisei think the kids are alright, it's a little sterile and puritan but hasn't it almost always been in some fashion? at least in america. i've heard "dating apps f***ed things up" a lot in person from peers but that seems more song and dance (tangent but i find observing retold stories and shamelessly repeated talking points fascinating) and whether they actually believe it is hard for me to say

To some degree I agree youth issues are represented across multiple generations and aren't generation specific, but statistically younger people are 100% worse off. Regardless of if you want to get into debates about what social atomization means, youth are increasingly more depressed, more likely to be diagnosed mentally ill, more obese/generally unhealthier, poorer, more likely to be subject to addiction, more behaviorally divergent, etc. than previous generations. I of course don't think this is just a social trend, it's of course materially founded. There are also other factors like overdiagnosis, higher prevalence of psychiatry, etc. but these all still converge materially to affect the outcome - just in general statistically people are unhappier, less likely to be n relationships (or even have friends at all), or have any form of social safety net than like several decades ago. I'm not really just saying like "i saw some kids saying weird s*** on tiktok or twitter now im blackpilled" or something, i think actual observable economic and social conditions point to a significantly worse off generation and this is complemented by trends online.

yeah that’s what i do there still small pockets of socialization like gym activities and clubs at uni plus just being ahead of class work and asking people about the assignments in class helped me out since people would notice i’m always ahead

I'm fortunate to have come from that because it's the foundation of why I value other people and community so much
People always tell me I have a gift for connecting with people including complete strangers that I approach out of the blue and being able to come from and grow in such a communal culture is definitely the foundation of all of that
