only reason i commentate on the difference between anti-capitalism and antisemitism so extensively is because of how much I have to explain my position on Palestine to my liberal friends so often

@WRU off topic but I just realized your avy is Scratch Perry, dunno how I didn’t notice that before. You a dub fan? I love that s***, outside of hip hop it’s what I listen to mostly and is one of my biggest passions. Started collecting old dub and roots reggae records this past year too

Was thinking about putting together a big dub thread on here to put KTT on cuz it’s quite possibly the most influential genre ever

Yeah it’s also used as a slur in the US lol

Not very common any more but it’s a thing. That’s what my great grandma referred to my moms best friend from college as apparently

LETS GO yeah im a fan. I actually got really into it last year too! id listen to some Perry stuff before that, but nothing serious. also was thinking there's a dub thread here too but im not sure

it for sure is one of the most influential genres out there, id love to have a thread about it and reggae/roots/others around it

Yeah I’ve listened to it off and on for the past decade just since it’s so closely related to a lot of other s*** I listen to (jungle, grime, dubstep, etc) but didn’t really do a deep dive into it until this past year

Just got a copy of Super Ape on wax the other day

My favorites is probably Scientist, Jah Shaka, and Prince Jammy tho. Saw Shaka earlier this year in London and it was one of the most wild shows I ever seen. Wish we had s*** like that in the states

I’ll probably put a thread together later this week if there’s not one already

the entire stretch of 2016-2020 really permanently triple fried some people's brains fr

not just libs or qanon type people either. its beyond nuts how intellectually broken massive swathes of early-mid 10s intellectuals are now. great example is Wesley Yang. when i read his essay on the virginia tech shooter, i thought that dude was going places. his follow-up essays across a lot of major sites were always incredibly thoughtful. now the dude is legit a twitter goblin who just complains about CRT & gender theory all day and thinks theres gonna be a holocaust for straight white people
