if Lula wins no way Bozonaro leaves willingly
its not like he took office in the first place legitimately so i also see no reason why he'd leave legitimately
Lot of criticisms to be had of Lula and I think it’s important to keep in mind he is not a panacea
But at the end of the day it is of the utmost importance that Bolsanaro is defeated and if the US tries to meddle in this the western left needs to take a strong stance of opposition
I fear for what could happen in the next few days and am keeping the Brazilian people in my thoughts.
those tears taste so good

US came out hard and fast reaffirming the result for Lula
Interesting

I don't think I know a single Brazilian sporting celeb who supported Lula
All the UFC guys are chuds, all the big soccer names too

“everything is US Intervention”
I’m not saying this is or isnt, just that before making such claims we should research and not be reactionary.
Twitter is the most reactionary social media site

I noticed that too. Not sure what’s going on there exactly.
I think that probably demonstrates a good lesson on the limits of social democracy tho

lula met with US officials as far back as last may, it's half of where the rw conspiracies come from.

they also met late last month on a follow up

What’s your thoughts on this? I’m assuming there was either a rift between Bolsonaro’s admin and the US, or they felt like Bolsonaro could threaten stability in the region and decided to side with Lula as the “safer bet” for the short-medium term

basically bolsonaro's relations with the US managed to be objectively worse than than lula's ever was, but the difference is whereas lula may not fall in US interest foreign-policy wise, on the flip side he's never going to attempt like "real" anti-US coalition policy like bolsonaro. lula is basically non-aligned but bolsonaro is very much on the ANTI-GLOBOHOMO THE GLOBALIST AMERICANS ARE TURNING OUR KIDS GAY WE GOTTA SIDE WITH RUSSIA wave. regardless of foreign policy preference, from the US preferential stance they're always going to err more on the side of neutrality than otherwise; ESPECIALLY now. I also think the US is too occupied atm to care about active regime change so they're just trying to push passively they at least cna be like "well we don't have to worry about them and at least hes (comparatively) progressive socially". im sure a lot of the meetings were in reality discussions about what would happen internationally if bolsonaro didn't step down. i mean, you see the US even now willing to coordinate with Venezuela basically, so them wanting to cooperate with lula shouldnt be surprising.

I think burning the Amazon for recreation is also not as favourable for US foreign policy as people assume. Climate change is going to create a lot of flashpoint moments that the US will actually want to reduce at some point just for stability purposes
I’m curious about this too, as a Jew. What I’ve heard is that Christians were barred from handling money or something, and that Jews couldn’t own land or associate with nobility in the Middle Ages. I’ve seen Jewish articles positing historical evidence does not point to us being forced into being financiers, and rather attribute it to literacy rates in Jewish communities. If I find a good text on it I’ll tag you
i actually have a lot of info on this, responding to bookmark so tomorrow when im at my pc i can write up a very in depth response to you
