there is no push for universal healthcare or really any sort of actually all-encompassing social program that actual centrists like those in europe campaign for. If we looked at Warren’s campaign which was a Democrat-flavored variation of Bernie’s own platform, basically all of her policies were watered down and realistically ineffectual alternatives to actual reform Bernie wanted to push, all placed behind a facade of feminism and intersectionality created to mask what is really conservative policy

Much of what mainstream dems and the party baseline pushes for in terms of “left wing” ideas are anti-discrimination and intersectional policies, which once again is a somewhat centrist position. It’s basic common decency and not some political stance to have.

However, they incorporate these ideas in right wing economic structures (capitalism is a right wing economic structure due to its conservative reinforcement of economic hierarchy), oppose raises to the minimum wage, oppose labor reform, mostly oppose police reform, and definitely do oppose budget reform in regards to military spending and foreign aid to right wing countries like Brazil or Israel, considering they passed the 2020 military budget nearly unanimously.

This creates a facade that they are a people’s party in that they fight against discrimination in today’s world, but outside of “discrimination” little is done to better the conditions of the regular american

Sure you have the more left of the party like the Squad or new Dems but having a two party system in a country like this is bound to have those effects

Both parties have the same donors who all have the same right wing agenda of reinforcing their corporate hegemony so even there we can see there’s a lot to be done before the party could even be considered centrist
