You really believe that 8 mile movie line huh
well it's not true : for one he never outed himself as having a racist past, benzino did.
All he did after being exposed is apologize and have his label legally clean up his mess for him.
He also dodged rap beefs against cage, evidence and k-rino (rumor has it he squashed it behind the scenes with evidence because he didn't want part 2 of hiss diss to release, evidence hung around the same crowd as eminem and it is to be believed he had some compromising info)
That's what he does. He has said everything that could hurt him in his records (except his racist tracks for obvious reasons).
But calling Em a racist is a reach. He did some racist s*** in the past. He apologized. And the reason why that didn't stop him is that he had already reached the top. He was unstoppable then.
Some people check older stuff some people dont.
Here u have people calling everything that happened before Drake and Kendrick dust. And this is a rap forum. Not casuals.
This is a rap forum where people admitted to not knowing about jay z beefing with nas though
And you yourself Showed that you don't know much about hip hop history.
You only check for your favorite artists every move (which is fine and comprehensible) thus seemingly not being able to entertain nuanced conversations about said favorite artists or the artistic landscape they exist/thrive in.
The peak Eminem hit from SSLP through Encore is way higher than most of y'alls favorite rappers.
Now the lows are lower than most too lol but still
Em haters are corny tryhards
Em stans admittedly worst though
With how successful Em is/has been in his prime, it's a shock he doesn't have much influence on the younger rappers. He has a lot of impact but not much influence
No one wants be Em but a lot of people want to be Slim Shady

I know about some of the 90s and a lot after.
But to me Hip Hop or music in general is not a subject you have to study. I listen to what I like and enjoy.
For obvious reasons he never adressed his own racism when he's known to use people lines to his advantaged before they can, well he failed and k-rino wrote a diss song about it he never replied to

I'm not calling him a racist, the whole point was to say that people totally ignored Elvis' non racist past and called him that because he represented white privilege
, do you think they're gonna let eminem of the hook when the sentiment exist and is backed up by an actual racist past'.... Like I said history has a nasty habit of repeating itself, you can choose to stay in view everything through your rose-colored fan glasses but reality might hit hiq legacy hard one day and don't say nobody warned y'all.

Hip hop is studied in universities already, it's literally tied to the Civil rights movement in the 60s
if you just listen to it and have no connection to the movement/people that pioneered it then just say so and leave us be when we adress it.

He did in Yellow Brick Road.
What did you want him to say? I recorded some racist songs back in the days Im sorry about it?
Why? What if the tapes had never leaked?
Em top 20

I just think it's a boring way of going into music. Some people like to listen to actual music, or even a bit before that. And that's it.
Rap, pop, or whatever it is.
All I did was saying that Em's discography isn't seen as trash outside forums (only Encore and Revival get really trashed) and that Em is a legend ww.

Lol what did you want him to say, def not "all girls are hoes"
I'm sure you believe his story of having that black gf and blablabla ( despite numerous accounts saying she doesn't exist)
You ignore the alleged "racist rap hour" he would regularly host in which he would call black people (not just imaginary gfs) racial slurs too
Also I'm not holding him for his racist past, I'm just saying there are people that do and will continue too and if
we observe music history, it's not looking good for him on that side, it'll always be a chink in his armor, an Asterix attached to his name. Period

Just saying that he didn't mention it until the tapes leaked. Which is normal. When the tapes leaked, he apologized and kept going with his career.
I do think he's lucky that Murder Inc were already struggling with the feds and 50. Cause they had bigger issues to worry about.
They probably thought they had one, but Em had already taken off.

Katy perry isn't seen as trash outside musicians that cate about more than pop hits
Eminem is popular with a demographic that's far removed from hip hop (cuz mainstream succes will do that to ya)
We can discus his music (musical opinions are mostly subjective )
his sales (objective facts but how he obtained them is open to interpretation)
I don't believe that the voices of those who don't know hip hop history matters that much when discussing his impact in music (thus his impact culturally or in hip hop history)
the takes are either celebrity worship or biased because they're a fan
Pretty much
Hard Knock Life was my favourite album when it came out in grade 7 and the man's still going strong
fell off after American Gangster with a few mediocre albums before. His lyricism vapidly regressed.
tbh tho I don't like Jay-Z that much. Not even as classics such as Reasonable Doubt or The Blueprint.

Well for what it worth Lordie, Sufi and I loved 4:44
Beasties and Tribe probably definitely had the greatest heights a quarter century distant from their debuts
Ll music doesn't scare away the "hoes" lol
He's actually far more listenable at functions.
you gone play that shaboing boings song at the cook-out/pool party or LL cool j who do you love
Ll also has a better acting career and body if we're being honest.
8 mile s***s on LL's entire film career
i got time today.

doesn't make him less of a hypocrite thus hurting his I'm so real and raw you can't say anything about me that I haven't said myself
He said he didn't need to use the n-word in his raps (lies, he isn't allowed to by the culture + alledgedly said it in racist recordings but more negatively)
He dissed Lauryn hill for her racist comments that turned out to be false in a interview and a song
*Eminem: First word (Lauryn Hill) you said is dirty word for me. Because I’ve heard a lot of stuff about her and how she is towards white people. I’ve heard a lot of things that she’s racist and I can’t prove it but I’ve heard a lot of stuff and it’s a lot of controversy so if it’s like that I don’t even wanna get down like that.. whatever whatever whatever, that’s her business…I’m not collaboration type MC
From his song cum on everybody
Bought Lauryn Hill's tape so her kids could starve
(I can't stand white people!)
This man played moral police around racism whilst having his label get rid of his tapes and only writing a verse with a story most outside the fan base don't believe (Yellow brick road)

Ll cool j's acting in NCIS Los Angeles>>>em's acting in 8 mile
Fight me
Nice to see a prominent name have the balls to say this. Feel like most mfs gargle him by default.
Also, another Eminem thread and another almost 20 pages.
Never fails.
It's because we engage in paragraph filled discussions about his career trajectory and what it means for hip hop or mainstream pop music
my fingers hurt man
