Hey yall, sherm dropping by cuz I was thinking about the scene and I had some questions for the fans of this music cuz I was getting srsly curious - this is all meant in good faith, I’m gonna use the term hyperpop but I apologize if you feel that doesn’t represent the music ITT
How many of you are familiar with the label PC Music?
Were you familiar with PC Music at the time they debuted in 2013? If not, when did you become aware of them?
Do you feel hyperpop has any similarities to their music or the music they inspired at the time or after?
Have any hyperpop artists expressed a fondness for PC Music or its artists besides Sophie?
I ask because I find it endlessly interesting that millenials basically tried hyperpop and failed but zoomers have created a burgeoning community in almost no time
Hello, big pc music fan.
I got into it around 2015. Hi by Hannah Diamond and QT song got me interested.
I don’t think hyperpop has that many similarities to “pc music”. PC music take on pop music is like avant garde but the old pc music sound is dead. Himera is the only artist who is taking elements of old PC music sounds and expanding upon them.
Hyperpop to me is just maximalist pop rap music most of the time. It features a lot more trap / hiphop elements while blending electronic and synthetic feelings.
Most hyperpop artists credit their influence to drain gang and not much pc music lol. I think they do like pc music considering the label brings in a lot of hyperpop artists to collab in their online specials
