this really some ass? skate 2 and 3 were my s*** and got this downloading rn.
The gameplay is there… everything else you loved is not
no one‘s saying the actual skating is bad, it‘s everything else that is
skate community has been starving for 14 years and this game is like if they offered us a single slice of bread as compensation -
it’ll taste good for a moment and then you‘ll be left craving more.
i‘m not tryna rain on your parade btw, just genuinely disappointed in what we got
like i wouldn‘t even be mad if the story was trash, but they didn‘t even try to make one. that‘s embarassing.
always online? ok but for what? where are the spot battles, death races, 1up, skate, etc etc?
where is the park creator? ranked mode? team battles?
did you guys even play skate 3? do you know how ahead of it‘s time the online mode was? they could‘ve just copied it.
at the very least, i was expecting a game that requires you to always be online to get that part right.
but they couldn‘t even do that. it‘s just sad, really.
1000% facts. Couldn’t have said it better myself.
Roadmap in case people haven’t seen it yet:
Drip-feeding content that should’ve been available day 1 sure is a bummer, but imma let it slide this time cus it’s free and in Early Access
I totally get the people’s disappointment after waiting 5 whole years since the project’s initial announcement.
This might become a skate game by spring next year
Holding tricks as content is crazy
just noticed i cant darkslide in this game either
Just wait til they start locking tricks behind the battlepass

Yeah its pretty empty right now. I kinda knew going in it would be devoid of content. Im just addicted to the trick system and finding big jumps.plus it doesnt hurt that its like 12 gb.

So this game will be worth it by next summer then
Good thing it’s FREE
I would’ve been so pissed if I paid money for this though let me tell you
I had some fun with my brother doing some co-op challenges so that’s kind of worth it
And climbing tall ass buildings is fun (only to discover I can’t fast travel to the top unless I level up to unlock the fast travel point smh)
incredibly boring in its current state lol
if the player count drops first few months ea gonna shut this s*** down
Ok I spent about an hour playing this for the first time yesterday, and just wanted to give my honest opinions so far.
I’ve been playing these games since Skate 1 first dropped, and Skate 2 is by far my favorite of the franchise….so I had no expectations going in to this because it looked nothing at all like the old Skate games, and looked more like it would have a Skate 3 vibe. I really really miss when the franchise had a grounded grittiness to it
But tbh the game feels really good to play. I love the board motion physics, and the look of the tricks. You can tell the developers spent a lot of time working with real life skaters to perfectly capture the look and feel of popping tricks.
But just like everyone else says, the challenges just aren’t great, and are all incredibly easy. I can consistently complete every challenge on the first try. And the game desperately needs to give people more to do.
I actually think I’m going to keep playing though, at least for some time. Like I said, it does feel good to play

also true which is why this game been cooked from the go but unfortunately its the only way EA wouldve greenlit a release
I feel there’s genuinely a lot of potential for this game if they don’t wait too long to add S.K.A.T.E battles, 1Up, death race, and spot battles
Also I think it would be dope if you could join a skate crew. Like if the developers made 5 crews to choose from, and gave players the option to join one of them. And then they could schedule weekly battles and championships among the teams.
That way there’d be a sense of rivalry, competition, and teamwork in the game
Also one more thing, I hate how much things are constantly explained to me.
I know what “footy” means, and I don’t need to learn how to ollie or kickflip
What’s the point of asking me how interested I am in skate culture, and letting me choose OG skate controls if I’m still forced to go through tutorials and have skate slang spoon fed to me like I don’t already know all of that

its very loose with the DaKs, DLC, and SVLoc s*** but i agree, i want them to lean more into it

Yup and then the winning teams could win exclusive in-game merch, in-game currency, cool decks, etc.
That would give players real motivation to keep playing
Have any of yall climbed that tall ass skyscraper with the red crane yet? I swear it takes like 10 minutes or more to climb to the top

add me i have fast travel
The haptic feedback on the dualsense feels sooo good on here. You can really feel the different types of texture you’re skating over
the street skating feels so snappy, fluid and good. the animation level up is on another level from the other games.
the bowls, pools and half pipes feel dreadful though. super stiff and you dont really get much height and its all super clunky and bad.
im having a lot of fun tho. will be playing this a lot and hopping in every time they flesh it out/add new stuff

I don't feel like I'm getting enough air/speed on half pipes tbh
