copenhagen cowboy got 4 female writers along with him and it shows. probably the best thing he's done as of now
Wait I’m confused did you mean to quote me wit that video??
But facts I’m looking forward to seeing the show
Lmao don’t block me
i've never even hovered my mouse over the report button or the block button
im not bout that
Word I feel you, I’m one of those guys who says Drive is NWR best work lol. I think he could do more amazing things if he at least aligned with a co-writer, cus the f***in visuals is incredible.
I thought Only god forgives was a complete snooze story wise but visually it’s one of the best shot films I’ve seen out of the recent stuff
Drive is easily his best work and it’s not really close
It’s just scene after scene after scene of greatness
My favorite movies end up being the ones with the most scenes I’d gladly revisit

nah im on mad valium rn and I accidentally quoted you thinking I was writing about refn but I had the rxkneph song instead
PTA is like best friends with QT so I think his need for consistency has rubbed off on him. I actually think PTA is pretty predictable (in a good way) despite evolving his style. Most of his films concern two people and the tension between them.
That’s a good point. I more so meant unpredictable in regards to setting and tone.
Wait was Vice like that too? Two people with tension? I haven’t seen that movie in so long
I’d never advise someone to take a class or NOT take a class or go to school, being everyone’s path is different. But I will say from my experience is teachers definitely try and compromise your creativity in order to follow their “rules”…which does more harm than good.
not at my college

Facts and it’s more on the side of a character study rather than a typical action flick
Now QT IMO doesn’t have a bad film. And I’m curious to see if niggas will appreciate his work more as we get older, like 20-30 years from now
I wouldnt call them bad but I do find the Kill Bill movies mostly lame and insufferable these days. As a teenager I thought they were coolest s*** ever.

I made this point too!
But I happen to LOVE that formula.
It’s a niche person in a niche system.
A wild card is introduced to that system.
Who throws the whole system out of whack.
There’s sometimes a strong third character who tries to clean up their mess.

i love kill bill but i think there's some nostalgic bias playing along here
jackie brown is my favorite though

I agree with finding it super cool as a teenager. I need to revisit Kill Bill, I prolly haven’t seen it in order 5 years. I do know it’s not in my upper half of QT films when I rank them

Yeah Doc and Shasta were the two in that one, with Bigfoot as the pivot point
I think PTA just understands that people invest in strong relationships

Jackie brown is the one QT movie that keeps climbing higher and higher on my list the more I watch it.
Tempted to use that song.

it smacks honestly and its fun seeing a danish comeback by him. i need to rewatch the ending expeditiously because that s*** hit me like a deer in headlights.
i know that he talked about TOTDY being a very long film and not a mini-series, and maybe there's a case to be made but there's no doubt that copenhagen cowboy is just a 5 hour film. i could barely tell the episodes apart, I just had to guess based off how much time had passed
i cannot write a clean script without putting camera shots in there because of how much I think in images, and dialogue is usually sparse for me
what I wanted to ask in the filmmaking thread was if someone has licensed sync rights for music from a big label and how long that process took
I'd just keep my script and shot list separate. I feel you can still convey a lot of imagery through descriptions without being fussy about the specifics.
Also if it's a script for your own personal project there's nothing wrong with adding shots. But if it's a script you're sending off to producers or competitions it may not be taken seriously.

Most definitely. I was listening to an interview of his and he was discussing his process of how he’ll start writing down basic ideas and it usually starts off as “two people in a such and such relationship” and then from there he’ll grow the idea and it’ll end up being like a 600 page script that he now has to compress down

Wait are you saying you could barely tell the episodes apart with TOTDY or Copenhagen?
Kill Bill as one film is one of his best. The perfect encapsulation of him totally indulging in all of his sensibilities and interests while crafting one of his most emotionally engaging stories. Jackie Brown is fantastic but it’s the “overrated” boring choice at this point for his best. People confuse its relative restraint and focus on middle aged relationships as it being more sophisticated. It’s certainly top 5, but I agree with QT when he says “if you think Jackie Brown is my best, you don’t get or like my work”. Obviously there’s exceptions to this, but I think this is generally true.

Always good to see more writers on here

Yeah I can never consider Jackie brown his absolute best because of that reason. It’s not QT at his fullest, it’s QT feat. Elmore Leonard
