I took one course in short film writing and plan to take a course in full length film writing but it’s just to help me understand structure
Yeah it’s cool to learn the structure and the basics but to never treat as “hard rules”
It shouldn’t. It’s actually a good thing that you can visualize what you’re writing. Do you wanna direct also?
yea, essentially more than writing but i consider creating images writing with the camera. the general plot of a film is also something i value highly, i'm just not interested in dialogue writing AT all and find it tedious.
hopefully i'm making my "first real" short this summer and it's gonna cost me probably everything i own
gonna have to pawn my jewelry off

F*** it, s*** gonna pay off for you in the end.
It’s funny cus we’re opposite, I LOVE writing dialogue and don’t really care as much for plot. Lol
The beauty of creating art, everyone has their personal process

Facts
But I believe in the theory that you have to understand the rules to successfully break them

Yup exactly.
One thing some ppl don’t realize tho, is we naturally know the rules of storytelling. Like we’ve all told a story before to a friend or family member. That’s structure right there. Beginning, middle, end.
Screenwriting classes just go into further details on that
If you plan to direct your scripts that will actually work to your advantage. You’d probably make for a good director if you think in that way (doesn’t mean you can’t also write of course)
As for your question that’s tough cause it’s an industry question. I know there are agencies that help with getting music licensed for films but idk how long the process is. I’m sure it varies depending on song and artist
I don’t have personal experience with that and filmmaking community isn’t too active on here it might be a better question for reddit
yea, it's what I plan to do but it feels cluttering for someone else to read it and I feel bad if I were to take it out really
what i've done is create the shooting script and then just the dialogue but never a clean script
I like classic Hollywood films.
BOOORIIIING
although I love bringing up baby

Imo I don’t find it cluttering to read. Just based off reading Tarantino scripts, Coens, etc. all those guys put camera directions and all that stuff in their scripts.
And if you mean cluttering for Actors to read…hasn’t Hollywood ppl said that most actors don’t even read scripts in full, they just skip over to see what lines they have to say

it's cluttering for friends to read
i dont even like sharing them when I haven't finished but it feels slightly disheartening when they seem lost due to me adding 5 michael bay hero shots after each piece of dialogue (hyperbole but you get my point
)
personally for me i dont see a world where parasite is better than every tarantino movie
I mean this is true Pulp Fiction deserves a place over multiple movies on critics list although so do others

Lmaooo nah I feel you. Do you believe in getting script coverage?
I can take Ruggles of Red Gap and Sullivan's Travels any day

f*** that
if it was limited to dialogue only, sure
questioning a shot or a scene made my blood boil already

You got a specific genre you like writing or currently writing?

i personally feel like I shouldn't write about a genre where the environment is unfamiliar to me, like crime, even though I grew up in sort of a shady neighborhood and I've seen some f***ed up s*** here and there
so it's mostly just depressing/self-depricating s*** that I feel like I'm ventilating through cinema when I think about what I want to do
Sorry, just got off the pretentious d*** injecting into my veins

That’s one screenwriting rule I do appreciate “write what you know”
