Script was lacking I agree. I find Glazer a bit overrated especially on this site.. UTS and SB are good movies but nothing special...
Disagree and he barely gets talked about here or elsewhere on the internet
A history of violence copied the whole structure of this. Not saying Sexy Beast is the originator but that’s what comes to mind
Retired guy
Gets a visit from old boss
Old boss pesters retired guy
Old boss gets killed by Retired guys family member rather early before 3rd act
Retired guy gets out of retirement anyways to go do job

So coincidence or sexy beast copied its structure?
Idk the whole boss getting killed early by a family member was damn near identical

Just sounds like some noir stuff. They must have written every version of every crime plot by 1950

Beat for beat they pretty identical. I should start reading comics. Any recommendations?

I'm not a comic guy tbh. The Killer thing that Fincher adapted was pretty good. I stopped short so I wouldn't spoil the film.
Noir book wise I'd rec Jim Thompson. His stuff is short and snappy and ahead of its time. Pop 1280 is like a Coen Brothers flick. Killer Inside Me is darker. I think there is a comic adaptation of that.

Okay ima check some of those! Quentin Tarantino said some of his plots were inspired by comics like inglorious b******s…amongst other movies he took from
too real for making a thread on this
went back & rewatched it again tonight to pregame Zone of Interest this week. it's been a few years since my last watch & it never loses it's edge, it's rare for any other gangster movies match the level of atmosphere this has
@sace @FlyHiii the tv show they just did for this a yay or nay?
Not really tryna see that since it’s different writers/director and the film has a special place in my heart

Facts. The trailer looked kinda meh. It’s basically a prequel to the movie
Saw this. It's pretty good. An interesting take on the one last job trope. I wasn't into it like that, but Ben Kingsley was a good character subversion. The way that Gal was afraid of having him over makes you think he's a cold b\*\*\*\*\*\*, only to realize that he's a scorned former lover of Jackie lol
The dialogue was fine. Hyped to high heaven itt, but it was fine. There were other aspects of the movie that I appreciated more than the dialogue (dope camera work, tension near the end, the creative spin on the actual job).
Overall, solid film. Good stuff.

1 thing I love about this film is the transitions
