though if their guilty they should be phased out of the industry 100%
too many people in the industry get away with f***ed up things and they never get punished
look at dr luke still has career and no1 hit to boot this year alone
I actually f*** with dr. luke cause he Marshawn Lynching these women to stardom.
Cancel culture really isnt a big a thing as people like to think it is
Which artists/actors have (unjustly) actually lost their career due to being "cancelled"?
kevin spacey lmao

My problem with cancel culture is that people pick and choose, they don't keep the same standards to everyone. They never go against white people or females, it's only black men. Look at how MJ is treated vs how Elvis is treated. It's a fact that Elvis was abusing underage girls but no one f***ing cares. Look at John Lennon's past. It's sickening.
Same thing with females. Cardi B openly admitted to d***ging and robbing men but once again people didn't care. If a male rapper had said that he d***ged and robbed females then he would've been completely cancelled the next day.
The trend of taking accusations as the immediate truth is so, so dangerous.
Not only for celebrities but for people in everyday life. So many people have their lives ruined by false accusations.

Never thought this would ever happen. But I completely agree with you.
They been doing this to black males since since the 90s
For example 2pacs rape case in 94-95

You’re comparing s*** from the 50’s and 60’s to s*** that was still going on in court in 2005.

So what its the same s***zzzz
So what its the same s***zzzz
It’s really not the same s***. Elvis was f***ing with a teenager, which is creepy but it was socially acceptable back then when women were expected to have no life and be married off shortly after reaching adulthood.
MJ was f***ing with actual little kids. That s*** hasn’t been socially acceptable unless you were like some f***ed up emperor 1000 years ago.
i don't wanna read another lukewarm take on 'cancel culture' handwringing
☝️ ☝️ ☝️
It’s personal and case-by-case. Some fans can look past some transgressions, others can’t. If you’re going to champion art made by a rapist or whatever, though, you can’t get all “Urrgh, PC culture” when someone looks at you sideways, you just have to eat that s***. And please don’t start defending their actions just because you like them, as that’s no longer separating the art from the artist.
you fundamentally cannot separate art from the context of its creation, nothing exists in a vacuum. there's nothing wrong with enjoying art by bad people but claiming you're "separating it from the artist" is cowardly and just an excuse to not fully engage with said piece of art.

Got it. Enjoying art by bad people OK, semantics of my thread title bad.

Daniel Caesar LMAOOOOOOOOOO
I dont agree at all. This is becoming more prominent as fans continue to engage more on Social media with artists.
Octavian was one of the best new upcomers of 2020 and had his whole album rollout (and basically career) ruined because of a sexual assault allegation.
I'm not defending him in any way, I'm just objectively saying, his whole s*** was ruined in basically 24 hours after that allegation.
Happened to plenty of other artists too in recent months like Medhane.
But even slums don't wanna associate themselves with Medhane now
