Prezi watched the full bodycam videos on youtube (the video i watched had 1 officer's video then a second officer's video of the same event) and they seemingly did a very good job. sad to watch this unfold in a school obviously, but props to the cops for seemingly doing a good job based on what I saw.
it is wild we live in a world where body cam footage is available so shortly after this event occurred. idk if thats good or bad (obviously its good for issues of police brutality) but when it comes to this it's just wild to have this level of access so quickly

I live in Texas.
We literally have drivers shooting out their windows at other drivers for cutting them off, or just annoying them.
That’s a fairly regular occurrence

2) don't want to band-aid solution it, want to rip out at the root with gun reform and mental health reformi for one, hated the idea of a cop at schools, but atp rather see SOMETHING implemented so we can say yes it works or no it doesnt
My high school had one officer there with a handgun, doesnt feel like “militarizing” and would certainly at least somewhat deter a shooter
Of course you want to address it at the root, but both parties have been arguing about this for decades and finding no common ground.
We could compromise and at least begin to address the issue, but both sides only care about using these shootings to push their agendas

same, full agreement for part 1. I REALLY hate cops lemme get that straight, but dude actually was a nice person. and yea, it im sure would offer some deterrence although i do think there is a decent chance said cop gets merked when up against someone with an AR.

going to have to watch that segment. it sounds like he seemingly dives into a worst case scenario. i was not a bad kid so idrk what our officers role was in student discipline but im 99% it was none. even gave back a student's wallet when there was a visible fake ID in it lol
also sounds like the issue presented there would be very easily avoidable with proper implementation by the board of education/school. and yes, i believe this in spite of schools being underfunded and yada yada yada. i still would trust the majority of BOEs to find the right solution without the officer overstepping
BUT again if nothing will be done, id prefer to see this in place rather than nothing.
