Being targeted is different than being enslaved, segregated, shot to death frequently, mass incarcerated, redlined, need me to go on? Theres validity in arming protectors or arming people to defend themselves. But don’t compare the situations. You can make that point without tripping.
I'll give you that. I was pointing out more so the parallel between this and what sparked the BPP: the demonization and disarmament of a particular group of people with a history of discrimination. Of course they're not the same, but there are trans black folk who could both speak to that and what I'm saying so I'll let them speak for me I guess. The resources are out there.
bye bye nigga
Thank god that dude sucked
Thank god that dude sucked

Comparing groups by percentage of population based on race or gender identity has always made absolutely zero sense.
Nobody commits a crime because of their race or because of their gender identity. That’s just baseline facts and thinking otherwise is completely misguided and really just blatant racism or lgbtq-phobia.
If you want to get to the real bottom of why a person does something or attempt to identify people at risk, you have to look at socioeconomic status, early childhood trauma, family life, social support, systemic oppression, etc., the list goes on. There are so many complex factors involved.
This is a decent article delving more into the topic for anyone interested: politico.com/amp/news/magazine/2022/05/27/stopping-mass-shooters-q-a-00035762
P**** Uvalde could learn that they are f***ing cops and it is their literal job to murder people.

Essentialism is a f***ing b**** fr
not american but seeing how this s*** is SO common (school shootings) - man it gotta be a conspiracy - its all gotta be pre-planned man - this s*** cant be happening randomly
You’d have to think a shooter would be less likely to attack a school with an armed cop on duty. You’d also have to assume both red and blue would support this, unless im missing something.
Everyone knows “banning firearms” is a pointless argument, considering it won’t happen right now. Why not start somewhere where both sides can agree? Isn’t some action better than no action?
Considering this is a private school I don’t think that would work
i watched the full bodycam videos on youtube (the video i watched had 1 officer's video then a second officer's video of the same event) and they seemingly did a very good job. sad to watch this unfold in a school obviously, but props to the cops for seemingly doing a good job based on what I saw.
it is wild we live in a world where body cam footage is available so shortly after this event occurred. idk if thats good or bad (obviously its good for issues of police brutality) but when it comes to this it's just wild to have this level of access so quickly

won't say the left is against this but more or less they are.
both
1) don't want to "militarize" schools
2) don't want to band-aid solution it, want to rip out at the root with gun reform and mental health reform
i for one, hated the idea of a cop at schools, but atp rather see SOMETHING implemented so we can say yes it works or no it doesnt
