Anyway my whole thing here is it’s not the guns and it’s not the regulations or lack thereof. Basic history will tell you that. When we ignore the fact that mass shootings weren’t really “a thing” up until very recent American history, we fail to have any sort of useful discourse. This is all hogwash and anyone with half a brain can see that. It’s a problem that can’t be solved with a bandaid. It has a lot more to do with the insanity we’re hit over the head with online, and the ability for individuals to get lost in that sauce, disassociate, ruminate, and spiral out of control. But we don’t want to talk about that because it’s a far more nuanced and difficult conversation to have, nonetheless with no clear solutions.
So before you get pithy and snarky with me, trying THINKING ABOUT IT HARDER THAN A FIFTH GRADER, thanks.

I think the ultimate failure in America regarding firearms is not the devices themselves, but the culture around them which molds them as a useful object.
In an increasingly alienated society, firearms are meant to represent the masculine voluntarist will of the individual to assert themselves over others.

The democrats know that any meaningful gun legislation would kill their chances in elections, thus they feel like they can't do anything even though their dedicated base supports it
It's a lose/lose situation IMO, even though I am in firearms being readily available, we must not run from the consequences of the culture around them where they are viewed as sacred fetish objects
