They didn't fumble it at all b Adams movies outside of his comedies always flop.

The fact this is doing the number it is is a win at all I think this is the first time in Adams career people went to see him in something different.

That's the irony of his career people b**** about his usual stuff but that always does insane numbers meanwhile his outside projects all bomb.

Even Punch Drunk Love underperformed so this is a win.

Good thing is that despite the audience reception, this movie literally did record numbers for A24, so Adam and Safdies already won. I hope he lands some oscar love but it probably won’t happen.

He deserves it Im glad Adam finally getting recognition and success off this.

He really is good it just seems like every film he does outside of his usual stuff gets derailed lile he's cursed.

Last one was "Meyerowitz Stories" and he had Oscar buzz but the film campaign died when Hoffman got Me'Too'd

And he’s definitely Oscar worthy here. I still think PDL is his best work but this is 2nd for sure

Rather the films they choose to set open for worldwide releases, when this so clearly would reach a much broader audience than anything released under their umbrella thus far. Either way, looked it up and Netflix had already acquired its international rights while in production so it is what it is but point still stands, a fast paced crime/drama, N.Y. diamonds district gangster flick would do much better in Theater than say a Lighthouse or Hereditary

Most definitely not lol, they don't sell tickets like that plus it's a black-and-white arthouse drama.... taking place in 19th century lmao. Netflix' probably just so tight up with their original films during award season, that would be my guess
