“Is yah mawm proud uh yeuh?” Sandler had the weird slurred midtown jewish accent on lock
Bro please y’all answer me this!!
Did anyone else think his b\*\*\*\* was gonna play him at first and take his money and run??? I lowkey felt some wild twist coming and thought that would of been it
Damn that b\*\*\*\* really held him down bro after he violated the f\*\*\* outta her over and over again. But yea man this moving was amazing off first watch. I still can’t believe it. Adam getting shot in the end had me so shook it was so unexpected. I didn’t think he would win the bet, and then when he did I was like NICE my nigga f\*\*\*ing did it finally!!!! And before I can even catch a breathe BAM!!!! I had to rewind to see if I just saw what I f\*\*\*ing saw. Crazy
!# Yep their relationship was amazing and really in the hands of other directors she woulda double crossed him.
Safdie brothers made their love story tragic tho by having her ride til the end#
His relationship with the girl really summed up why Howie got what he deserved in the end the more I think about it
He had so much and so many people loved him inspite of his bullshit, his lies and everything. Even his Ex Wife called the police at the end when most woulda not cared bout him any more.
Howie had so much and he gave it all up for nothing he was a broke piece of s\*\*\* and everyone from his Wife to his girl to the old man loved him and helped anyway.
He didn't need the money this was truly a cautionary tale of greed

Bro he absolutely killed this s***. The only part that was meh to me was his acting when he was crying

Yeah bro exactly
so pretty much he originally got the loan so he could buy those stones right? For 100k and then basically thought he would get a Mill off it. It’s crazy if them goons just waited it on they would of got paid and been straight but niggas said nah f\*\*\* that we’ve had enough of u. Click.
Yeah man I love this film. Might be my favorite of this year. Easily top 3.....I still need to see Honey Boy tho and Waves. But I highly doubt Waves will top this for me. But we’ll see.
Idk why but I’m feeling strong about this movie the way I did with Birdman back in 2014, and that’s 1 my favorite movies of this decade. So I think this one might end up being up there too. S*** is just damn near flawless
Wym? I did spoiler tag it
I hadn't realized I already clicked on the black spoiler tag lol

Couldn’t tell how much of that was Howie being manipulative vs Adam Sandler not doing his best job playing a broken man tbh, but I figure you’re right- I think he just couldn’t sell the moment that well
The two bookending occasiona when we’re literally shown what’s under Howie’s surface, we see he contained multitudes. The literal cosmos. He’s the uncut gem of the movie, I really think he doesn’t get what he deserves in the end. He was meant to win. The Safdies succeed in making us root for the Uncut Gem himself, and we’re shown to have fallen for Howie in the shock we feel as he dies

Highkey I think it was Howie being manipulative. I've seen Adam do a breakdown in "Reign on Me" and he killed it.
He had the skills but that scene felt deliberately "woe is me forgive me please" cause he realized his wife wasn't gonna come back to him.

maybe it was Howie tryna be manipulative and fake cry. Damn you might be onto something.
How was he in it
He was pretty good when he was getting at Adams Sandler’s girl he was applying the pressure lol

Damn, that’s the motivation I couldn’t find- makes perfect sense thinking back on it though

Honestly @FREE just convinced me lol, he was playing all possible angles
but I still think he’s a hero by the end of the movie, he’s a nasty little midtown rat but he’s a rat with untold depth and feeling lol
Top 5 2019:
1. Once upon a time
2. Uncut gems
3. Parasite
4. Irishman
5. Peanut butter falcon

As the film leads up to the final game I realized how manipulative Howie truly was. Even the scene with KG he immediatly had the Vegas stats pulled up.
He knew what he was gonna do and knew what his play was even without a plan to deal with Otto and his goons.
He felt he would just wing it like always plan halfway then make up the rest and ultimately it got him killed
We see him do it throughout the film overborrowing, over extending and that's all his final plan is one big overplay.

its crazy cus we really thought he was gonna succeed and have a happy ending. I deadass thought he was gonna lose the bet and bam it’s over with. But when I seen he won I was like yeah he good! But nope, bruh shot Howie in the face like it was nothing, like bang bang your dead now, come here cousin bang bang you’re dead too. S\*\*\* was ruthless. I think cus it happened so fast too, another director would of had dude pull the gun on him and have Howie pled and build up this tension of not knowing if he gonna kill him. But nope these Safdie niggas just decide we gonna have bruh shoot his brains out while he’s at the happiest moment of his life still smiling

That “you and me KG, they don’t know what we know” speech gave me big Bad Lieutenant POC Lucky Crack Pipe vibes, two expert manipulators successfully getting under their target’s skin
