Wait, why were folks talking about lock on aim in RDR2? Is it a console feature or sum? I'd be mad if I had to shoot like that. It's so satisfying with mouse

GTA V and RDR2 have aim assist on consoles to compensate for sticks being more difficult to be precise with than a mouse
You can turn it off of course, but for me controllers are way better for GTA mainly due to keyboard driving giving you less control over speed

Oh word? Yeah I can definitely see how a controller micromanages speed

this is why GTA 6 needs to have native gyro aim.
been playing GTA 4 with a Dualsense and gyro and it's so good.
Out of the thousands of buildings 200 will not be enterable and you will get crowbcat compilations of how gta 4 was somehow better
This guy is so ass, I hate his videos

Like he might have some valid stuff to point out but it's bogged down by s*** like "This older game in the franchise had visible bullet holes when you shot at the ground and this new one doesn't have that!
" like who tf cares or is even looking at that s*** while they're playing a game
Were gta iv or v the best games of all time at launch ?
Been thinking about making a thread but I know this site isn't the place for it

This has been true for a while besides San Andreas I could argue the way they put them all together felt masterful. It was truly a world to get lost in. Even then though shooting itself was basic.

He has some heaters unfortunately, his Xbox wheel of misfortune is comedy

Their games are like technical showcases. A display of how immersive an open world humans are capable of producing if you pour buckets of money into it. The attention to detail that they include is insane and a lot of the time you spend playing, you're probably thinking "I can't believe they thought of putting this in the game
"
They include a lot of different mechanics in their games and tbf, most of it is executed at a high level. But because their games try to do so much, they aren't really the best at any individual thing

I mean they have drifted away from the sandbox style a bit and focused more on cinematic as well as realism. When the ethos and soul of the games they made used to be rather different. They just got the most applause for what they do now. Also hot coffee scandal changed things a lot. Would love one day a documentary on the making of all the games

Definitely feel you on RDR2 especially going towards realism (a bit too far imo) but GTA has been cinematic even back in the PS2 era. Getting some big Hollywood names to do voice acting for Vice City/SA. Even the opening cutscene in Vice City, they're trying to evoke the same vibe of a movie scene with the camera angles/music etc

Not really focused on the making of and you probably know most of this info already but I watched this recently

!https://youtu.be/M7xdiaBwURM?si=AfRlAmF_deZjqnibOh yeah GTA has always been cinematic and aimed at / inspired by movies but the missions themselves were applauded for not being on rails. Having many diferent unique ways to finish them. Putting c4 on a car before a mission even starts then blowing it up and instant winning. There were many ways to shoot out tires. complete a mission early. use knowledge from the sandbox to win in different ways. V was a lot more on rails with distinct win and fail states.
When you do some crazy s*** in this game world, you will hear it on the local news of that region, see it on the internet as it trends, and will need a change of clothes or need to get a hoodie to stop random NPCs from reporting you.
Watch dogs had this gimmick in 2014
