I thought this too, but then I also remembered he killed his dad. There's no way he could live with that.
I didn't really like Kylo as a Sith Lord tbh. The script for him was way too predictable and it almost seemed like they were trying too hard to make him seem ruthless for no reason. Maybe it's the actor too.
Something about Kylo as a Sith just felt unnatural though. Definitely the weakest of all the Sith, including Darth Maul.
Kylo wasn’t very intimidating what so ever, but that’s kind of what made him interesting. His unnaturalness worked because you could tell he was struggling deep down if he even was truly cut out to be a Sith. I feel like there was a missed opportunity to show him drifting deeper into the dark side & becoming more serious are the trilogy progressed. But the more I think about it Adam Driver just doesn’t seem like that type of actor so I can see why he was never gonna be the final villain
What was even the point of this trilogy
Basically everything in here was just fanservice and appealing to nostalgia. These new movies have zero longevity, they just appeal in the beginning because people watch it and are like “oh yeah I remember that” and then forget they ever watched this movie.
Why the f*** did this have to be the final movie
I can kinda see this tbh. I don't really have an urge to rewatch TFA or TLJ
This one is diff cuz it got THE Emperor being taken down once and for all...
What direction would yall take the story after TLJ? Kylo def has to be the main antagonist. Maybe expand on the knights and actually do something interesting with them? Make finn more central to the story maybe?
just rewatched Solo and aside from some annoying L3 moments here or there and lighting issues i really love this movie
Spiritually the millennium falcon will always be Han and Chewie’s ship

No Palpatine
No Sith Wayfinders, artifacts, etc.
Kylo Ren still as the supreme leader
Knights of Ren better utilized, the side antagonists of the story
Rey (still a nobody) has a inner conflict with the light and dark side this being represented by a love triangle with Finn and Kylo
Finn has actual weight to the story, training to be a Jedi
Leia’s funeral is at the beginning of the movie
Poe is general and learning the responsibilities of being one
Rose is given more to do, if they wanted to better represent the lgbt then making her bi representation would have been great.
Kylo stays/dies irredeemable, he chose his path
pacing could be completely fixed
C-3PO memory wipe needs to stay wiped (spiritual death)
I hate saying this because i love chewie but if they had a genuine reason for him to die and it served a greater purpose then do that.
No Luke is necessary, No Leia Necessary, No Han necessary
In any capacity
Lando should be given a bit more to do (if included)
No more introducing side characters, we don’t have time for them nor care enough
Rey accepts herself as she is
(she does not adopt any last name)
Rey sacrifices herself for the resistance
No Palpatine
No Sith Wayfinders, artifacts, etc.

This movie had to tie in with the other 8 films since if it was really supposed to be the final one. I really don’t see another way other than bringing Sheev back
The Hux/Kylo feud shoulda been a way bigger thing imo
Hux a clown. They did Gleeson dirty
My Ex Machina fam got done dirty

It already ties in as Kylo Ren is a Skywalker
Palpatine does not need to physically be here at all.
His presence created all of this but he does not need to be here for the finale to work.

would have focused more on kylo and rey being a dyad and the struggle of knowing they needed each other alive to be powerful but needed each other dead for the sake of what they wanted
kylo would have a nightmare in that situation would have been wild to see off the rails end of tlj kylo have to deal with all that

Agreed. Palpatine being alive actually does a great diservice to the story. S*** is actually stupid as hell.

I really don't think he was a clown. The only advantage Kylo had over Hux was the Force so that's why he always used it on him. I still think something interesting could've been told and tbh right after TLJ ended, that's sorta where I thought things would be going.
Hux would have like half of the First Order, Kylo would have the Knights and the other half, and the Resistance would be there and it would kinda be like a three way type thing.

This is actually a more compelling idea than to have them romantically connected. That s*** makes no sense when u remember how Kylo murked Han in front of Rey.

Finn trains with rey to become a jedi or he keeps the shock baton from TLJ. Finns arc ends with getting storm troopers to rebel from the first order. Kylo ren and knights of ren are like vader + the inquisitors tries to hut down the trio in groups of 2 or 3. Hux tries to overthrow kylo for treating him like s*** in TLJ. Leia is already dead and poes arc is trying to become a great leader like her. Rose can help lando to help get other resistance fighters. Rey and kylo can stay the same tbh most of my problems with their characters in this movie come from palp.
I still don't understand why they killed kylo even from a business standpoint it doesn't make sense. He's a fan favorite and you could've told a bunch of good stories about how he redeems himself.
It was changed super late in the super late he was supposed to live. twitter.com/im_organa/status/1211461333302071296
One of the worse things the movie did was killing cheewie and kylo but immediately showing they were still alive and C-3PO getting his memory back was annoying man commit to something. I thought the cheewie death scene was sad but ruined immediately when they showed him being alive. Even worse they really sneaked on kylo Star destroyer and somehow escaped easily
This movie did right by Finn though. Loved how they gradually introduced that he was force sensitive and showed us that the other people who quit being storm troopers might be too. Lando is clearly that girls dad That scene was weird as s*** no lie, but it was obviously set up for a Disney plus show.
My other gripe with this movie and star wars movies in general is how they just killed the knights of Ren without ever showing us how powerful they are. They do this s*** with black storm troopers who are supposed to be elite or the red throne troopers, but again in every instance these dudes always die so easily lol. One of the storm trooper seeing the knights of ren even told us how cool they were only for their best scene was them standing one a rock looking in circles like idiots

all the leaks for like a year now that turned out to be true all said kylo was gonna die none of them until right before the movie mentioned the kiss scene though
the last shot was supposed to be rey finn poe jannah and the droids on tatooine thats probably why they reused footage for the final cut if they even did
While I agree with most of what is being said, after watching the film one of the biggest missed opportunities pourtuinites with Finn wasn’t him being force sensitive but his journey from essentially being child soldier by force. The backgrounds of him, Rey and Poe should have been the the core that gave the films a strong direction - three nobodies that despite all the adversity become a symbol of hope.
Rey’s story would’ve been great enough, overcoming her background, overcoming the physical and mental torture Kylo put her through etc. I think they could’ve done more with a lot of the hate/anger she has actually coming from the pain of her being abandoned as a child and growing up alone always thinking that she had no value, Luke and her journey with Finn/Poe would be the thing that allows her to let go of that and actualise her becoming a Jedi and embracing the light side and being at peace with who she is. Same s*** that her background/bloodline doesn’t determine her destiny. Could have had Kylo go the opposite - to free himself of being a Solo/Skywalker and the pressure of what that lineage brings he sought to wipe it out. No need for any shoehorned romance either. A lot of missed opportunity with this triology.

I know JJ had to change the film drastically after he told Disney his original version “wouldn’t please everyone”. So idk
