Remakes considered canon over the originals
Because the originals are nonsense narratively, Capcom is clearly trying to create some degree of narrative cohesion amongst its games.

no they arent what lol
saying the ogs are nonsense narratively after the s*** requiem pulled with the last half of that game

Playing RE2 now for the first time. I love it. It’s a great game.
But also saw a 2 hour vid someone made on why they think the OG was better. And ngl, she made some pretty good points on how the narrative was better in the OG.
Still think the remake is a great game. But yeah

yea the og games are pretty coherrent stories im not really sure why that other guy was making it seem like theyre convulated or whatever lmao
the remakes do a fairly great job at retelling the og stories while making some reasonable changes (specifically re4 remake) but i do prefer the ogs vibe overall and think its kinda lame that they retconned some of lore in the remakes / newer games

they had like the perfect jill casting ever and did nothing with her smh

I like Milla but sidelining Jill in a f***ing NEMESIS movie was wretched I agree
RE9 first play has been peak. racoon city ruins with Leon was plateauing my enjoyment a little bit
but the section where you traverse the diagonally collapsed building is one of the coolest things I’ve seen in a 3rd person shooter gameplay sequence in years
Loved the part where you could shoot out the glass floors too.
Me and my brother playing this abd going damn wow the whole time. Cant wait for the Leon half where he does roundhouse kicks and s***.

i find that after multiple playthroughs raccoon city section is pretty fun, just an all out sandbox section where you can flex leons combat to the max
i only wish they added more variety to the enemies because RE2 had pretty good amount of them and it wouldve been a no brainer to bring em back

All they had to do was load the area up with Lickers and s***. More monsters in general, this is f***ing RACCOON CITY. Ground zero. Also make it rain or something to give it some atmosphere.

completed the OG trilogy over the last few weeks, all the remade versions
overall i had a great time and the gameplay is so fun in RE2R and RE3R specifically but goddamn what the hell is RE3R ? 😭 i beat this s*** in 5 hours confused as hell cus i was expecting a full game not a RE2 dlc
not a bad game at all it was still really fun but goddamn Leon story in RE2 took me longer than all of RE3

Massively rushed + cut content from the original RE3
At least we got a really cool version of Jill that I hope returns some day

iirc somewhat deep into the 2 remake development capcom decide to fast track the remake releases and assemble a smaller internal team along with a couple of external studios to remake 3, using the base developed for 2.
and yeah they cut a lot of stuff from the original and as a 'compensation' they saddled it with some standalone multiplayer dead by daylight-like game that no one played
i think some capcom exec or series producer later came out and said 'yeah, we wont do that again'

Comparing it to the games that followed (Village, RE4R & Requiem) it's such an obvious void in quality that I can buy that it was a fluke/dev hell situation
Just make sure to keep it together Capcom

in some of these big Japanese companies its kinda hard to gauge, because they dont really give large insight into their team structures, but afaik the director duo + team that made 2R & 4R are the ones doing Veronica, so we must be due for a great one

originals are up on steam/gog if you play on pc. actually on sale rn, 5 bucks a game
Actually finished RE Zero the other day and its up there with CV, as games that would most likely benefit from a remake. I kinda went in slightly biased, that it would be awful, but its not, its fine/good even, its just that they didn't really make use of the gimmick of switching between the two characters. 70% of the game is inventory management between the two characters. Also there's no item box, so a lot of the time you just leave items strewn across the map or pool them in a room of your choosing and go back and forth to it. The game really peaked within the first hour, when you're on a moving train, the rest is reheated nachos with a not-Spencer Mansion and labs, albeit with that awesome GameCube REmake art direction.
I was planning to play some of the other spin-offs, like Revelations, but with spooky szn approaching I think it's time for an og RE4 playthrough, this time with the HD mod textures.
